Anyone offering a true step primary for the C5 chassis ??
Prefer 1 3/4" to 1 7/8", 3" merge with a well designed spike ?? Hell, while were at it, I prefer a slip on collector...no flanges, gasket or coupler designs...:thumbs
Any leads would be appreciated.
Thanks............

The only stepped headers I've heard about for the C5's are the 1 7/8 - 2in headers. Never heard of the 1 3/4 - 1 7/8 for the C5. Now I have heard of them for the Pontiac GTO 04-06, I actually had a set of 1 3/4 - 1 7/8 for this car, however I'd recommend going 1 7/8 period. I paid like $200 extra for these stepped headers and my tuner said I should have just gone with the 1 7/8. They make a broad power curve but I would just take extra HP and torque higher in the RPM range if I had to do it again.

Although I agree with you on some level, I don't think my cubes warrant 1 7/8" primaries exclusively. With the choices being either 1 3/4", 1 7/8" or 2". Most of the builds fall (HP/cubes) between the 1 3/4" and 1 7/8" requirements IMO.
With the C5 platform become increasingly affordable I see a trend in more performance builds on the horizon (so it makes sense to offer a variety of header sizes). A "hot" 346" making 500ish RWHP falls right between the two header choices IMHO.
I feel the 1 3/4" are great for a "hot" motor down low and mid but when the rpm is in the upper range you leave hp on the table. And the opposite holds true for the 1 7/8" design. Of course this is my opinion....And with 346"-408" being some of the most popular/affordable builds it seems a step header is a logical choice.
