Default first time at the track

Bought my first ever Corvette about 3 months ago: 2004 A4 coupe with 3.15, completely stock (42,000 miles). Went to Super Chevy in Ennis, Texas yesterday. Best time was 13.39 @ 103.9mph. DA was about 1100'. For a stock car on stock tires (luggage was even in the trunk) I thought that was decent.

I'm ordering a set of MT drag radials (picked up a stock set of 17" OEM thin spokes), Vararam, and ECS tune within the next couple weeks. How much should that lower my ET and change my MPH?

Yes, I know modding can be addictive, and yes, I'm just getting started.

Don't have your car tuned if you will be adding other mods in the next few months. A Vararam should give you .20 -.30 better et in the 1/4 mile. With an A4 (automatic trans) a hi stall torque converter is the best bang for the buck excluding NOS. Plus a converter will give you even better performance if you later add headers cam and other mods. I would go with the Yank SS3200 if you are going to keep your 3.15 gears and not run your car often at the track. If you plan running at the track and maybe adding a cam and headers at some point. Go with the Yank SS3600 with 3.42 or 3.73 gears. You can sometimes find 3.42 gears in the C5 parts for sale forum. Good Luck

I do have long-term plans but for right now it's just the tune, Vararam and MT drag radials. My hope is to be into the high 12s consistently.

Later on I do want to add long tubes, Ti exhaust, 3.42s, and a nice Yank. For $150 I'll send the computer back to ECS for a retune since I don't plan to add those mods right away and want to enjoy the car now. My eventual goal is to run high 11s with OEM thin spokes, drag radials, and the above mentioned mods while still retaining DD abilities.

Thanks Doug. How much do you think your tune, a Vararam (I'll order from you as well) and MT DRs will help? I'll remove the computer and send it your way in a couple weeks when I have vacation if that is ok.

Your goal of high 12s with your current mod list is very attainable.

Good luck and have fun!
