I was wondering about tire choices, especially drag radials. What is the lowest 60' on a Hoosier 275/40-17 or the 255/60-16 ? At what point is it smart to go to a bias ply ?
it can be done with drag radials but i find it very hard, depending on clutch. i started using bias ply and it was alot easier to drop 60' and they absorb some of the shock from launching a manual. my 26x11.5-16 et streets had no problems with 1.51-1.55 60', and i have some hoosiers that will hold up to 1.39-1.4x 60'. 28x10-16 if you're interested in buying some

You DO mean 255-50-16 I assume?
I believe the lowest sixty foot on a Hoosier 275-40-17 might be the recent 1.40 set by stanger383 in his heads/cam C6 LS2, others have gone 1.41s and 1.42s.
Although I'm not totally sure if Gary (C6 Z06) might've dipped into the high 1.3s or not back when he was still running (315 or 275) 17s?
255-50-16s have gone WELL into the mid 1.3s, and on a few separate occasions too, those would be my first choice between the two if they fit.
