Default gears

what gears would be a better fit ,373 or 390 on a 02 z with cai and a tune, 372 at the rear wheels, the car runs low 12s and would like to get in the mid to high 11s, also would LT headers work better instead of a lower gear, thanks

With seat time and practice, you should be able to get into the 11s as it is. Provided you have a good tire on it.

That said, 4.10s are a great choice. I certainly wouldn't go 3.73. Not enough difference from stock.

Don't fear the gear.

4.10 stick shifters and 3.73 automatics seem to work the best gears

Gears do nothing for your HP level - other than reduce it a bit.

Headers will give you more power - with a proper tune, but you will not likely get as much of a "seat in the pants" feel from them.

Do both - but which one first? If it were me, I'd do gears.

How much 1st gear do you want ??

With the M12 trans you won't have much. A track car or chasing a time slip, I agree, 4.10s are a part of alot of combos. I have em now but will change to 3.90s the next shop visit. I drive more street miles than track and traction became a huge problem in all the lower gears once 4.10s were introduced. I can't really say how I'll feel about the 3.90s but I'll let you know.
