Launch advice needed
Getting ready to go back to the track,1st time back in 2 yrs, best before was 1.79 60ft on a 305/18 drag radial stock stall,same motor and tire but a yank 3600 stall this time,how would you launch it?just stab and go?rev it up to about 2k and stab?405 rwhp/390 trq/3;73 gears.rpm stage 4 trans,and hardened shafts on both sides,

Tire pressure is important when finding your "sweet-spot" when launching. A lot of that depends on the temperature of the track, the tire, track prep, track temp and the cars variables that are going to all play a part in finding your best 60.
I recommend trying different things. Certainly just try stabbing it as a baseline, your stall might hold you to 2800-3000 if you have standard tire up front and a little less with a skinny before pushing. Where you stage will play into it too, as you know.
I've found with my 4k stall my car likes to go at about 2200 rpm. i can rev/hold it to much higher, about 2,800 before pushing the skinny's but haven't netted the best 60' going higher. Paint it Black has a 3600 and if I recall correctly, he likes about 1800 rpm.
I'd say you should be getting a low 1.5X

thanks for the reply,i know ill have to do some work to find that sweet spot,i think im just going to my local 1/8 track for the 1st time back ,just to try an get those 60s down and see how the tranny and stall work together

We were right about where you were in HP several years ago. I'd have to say with the advice from Hot Wheels you are ready to go to the track. His advice is right on from starting with a baseline and then working your way up. Sounds like he's done it before! Good luck. Post your results.

Great advice above. My two cents is to not push the converter too hard and put the car and suspension "in a bind." I'm sure all cars react differently but my experience has been to leave from an idle or slightly higher and let the converter flash for maximum 60' times.

Thanks guys for the input,Ill let yall know how it goes and what worked best that day,Just hoping it all holds together,and i can get a 1.5 60 ft.If so that will put me where i want to be low 11s.

With my Yank-me 3600, I have to leave at 1400 or so to keep from spinning on our non prepped track. Higher if the track is good. So it depends would be a good answer. You will figure it out.
My best 60 is a rather disappointing 1.58.
