I spoke to him quite a few months back, he was doing well and I know he was spectating at an Atco track rental last month as well.
Perhaps Rob (aka: 'Hot Wheels') will post up with some more info.

It is with mixed, emotions that I am replying to this thread.
First of all, for the friends of Marshall and all of you who know him I would like to say I am very sorry for you to hear what I am about to say. The lack of any updates on Marshall’s condition has been because I was doing what he had asked and not tell everyone about his condition. On the other hand, I promised him that I would not let him be forgotten. So, I have decided to reply.
Marshall had been diagnosed with cancer about a year ago; they removed a tumor the size of a lemon from his brain. We thought he was doing great with his monthly treatment of pills and seemed to be recovering very well; he would tell me that his blood work was coming back perfect! His sister and I were always talking about the improvements that we were seeing in his condition.
A few months ago, he had some test done and found that the cancer had come back so they had stopped the treatment he was on and stayed in the hospital, and then was moved into convalescent care. He is not doing very well. His brother has told me recently he is not of sound mind and having problems remembering things.
I understand a lot of you are worried about him and he has many friends here. I have been thinking about doing something for him so he will be remembered, maybe a large rental? Marshall’s tremendous faith in a higher power has helped him greatly with all that he has been going through.
Please keep him in your prayers.
Thank you,
Rob

Thanks for the update, Rob. I am very saddened to hear his condition has gotten worse. Cancer does SUCK. He was always a joy to see at the track - and funny as heck!!

Damn!
When I first saw the title of this thread yesterday (before opening it) my heart jumped a little because I knew the history.
But after opening it I was so happy that it wasn't bad news and proceeded to post positively as I had hoped/prayed things were still going well with his prognosis.
This is the ABSOLUTE LAST thing I'd wanted to read.
Marshall is a GREAT man, CLEARLY one of the 'good guys' that we've all raced with (and hung out with) at the track.
Very, very saddened by this.

Sad indeed. I only met Marshall once when he was racing Atco a couple years ago. He had quite a personality. He made it a point of ripping on my Mustang, but it was obviously good natured.

Rob, thank you for posting about Marshall's condition. We knew he was not doing as well as we had hoped and are saddened by the recent news of his condition. He was always someone who could make anyone smile with his fun approach to our adventures at the track. We'll keep him in our prayers.
If a rental, or anything, is setup in his honor, please let us all know.
Thank you,
Dave & Vivian

Marshall and I share a reliance on a higher power and have talked about things in that sense. I think he would agree that he has been extremely fortunate and grateful for the past 25 years.
You're in my prayers Marshall.
