Sounds like excuses of why not to complete a car to me

As they say on Street Outlaws:

"Thats because Texas BLOWS!"

Not doubting you because I don't know your car but if it's a DD and you can do this I'd be the first one to buy you a cold beverage!

Again, just my opinion.

I'm confident that with the right H/C/I, in the below DA fall/winter air we get, we can put ours solidly in the 10s and then spray a 100 shot and dip in the 9s. That's our plan for the next (and last since I don't want to put a cage in) round of mods this winter or next spring as soon as I decide on the heads and cam.

Heck, we've been 11.58 in perfect air with my 270 lb. butt and our stock lift/duration cam, OEM 241 heads, and LS6 intake. With my wife in the car on the same pass it would have been knocking on an 11.3x. A good H/C/I HAS to be worth more than 0.5 in good conditions. We "only" make 372 to the rear wheels NA.

Mine was built a few years ago, I can post a video below, please note the date in the beginning of the video. You can buy Tommy the beverage... the cars been driven from NJ to FL three times, twice with the way it's setup now. I use it as a daily driver. I also have a Yukon I pull with ans sees duty when there is Ice/Snow (salt) on the ground, a motorcycle and another Vette that runs low 10'S that share my driving, although, I haven't driven the 04 in about a year. It has 22k on the body with a brand new stroked / forged / ready to spray Nitrous and all of the supporting things for that as well. the "98" is the better handling one between the 98 & the 04 and sees the streets and is the "go to" car for me if the weather is decent... The 04 is .05 sec faster.

I was running 10.7X's with 414 rwhp (mustang dyno) before the original motor had gone and came apart. Maybe it wasn't the best idea, taking a motor with 140K on it and throwing a heads/cam package that I had picked up from a local street racer.

I have joe11204's original 2002 LS6 block now with rod bolts installed.

We are preparing for the fall memorial to run some better times, I have a new computer going in and some other things to make it go faster
I don't know the weight of the car or the roll bar but I strongly suggest a real roll bar if you put your honey in there ... :

Very good advice. That's in the plans. She hasn't been quicker than 11.60s or so but we're making plans when we do the top end of the engine to do a Wolfe bolt-in 6-point. Wendy is still learning in the car and we don't spray it when she runs.

Can I ask what you're running for heads, cam and intake? I'm still on the fence as to which way to go there for a max effort stock short block.

heads are: "worked" Trick Flows
Cam is custom AMR - it is pretty big
Intake is Fast 92

I like how people say "max effort stock short block" like its a scary thing and shouldn't do it because ...

IMO I think some people will go H/C/I on a stock short block to improve performance over OEM. Their goal is to have something fun to drive around town that is more "spirited" than how it came from the factory. If they're leaving HP on the table and not maximizing the effort they don't care.

We are trying to find the best possible combination to go as quick and fast as possible using the factory block and internals. If I know another combination would be quicker that's my goal.

Different strokes for different folks ...

Trick flow 215's

a 10 flat is possible NA, but not stock displacement. The heads on this setup were cartek 265cc heads that are a 243 casting. LS6 block wet sleeved.

It was my buddy Brent's who was the original owner. We spent a lot of time testing and tuning our cars at Atco and Etown back then. We had a lot of fun. He wound up going 10.1x before he sold it but we knew there was a lot more in the car. It would have seen mid-nines with some tweaks, weight removal, and track tuned meticulously. And that was 10 years ago. Brent was a great driver too.

Nice. The car is completely different now. Same block, but now it's a 454ci, and built for RC. I ran a 10.01 a while back but my son was kind enough to delete the video off my phone for me. Here's what she looks like now.

Did you ever do your h/c/i, OP? I'm installing AI 243s, Tick stage 3 sns and a fast 102 shortly. Car is already mild bolt ons with a yank 3800 and 3.42s. I'm hoping for 420rwhp and mid 10s.

Just curious what you ended up going with.

No, still haven't decided what to go with yet. I'm driving myself crazy over thinking what combination would be the best. Also, I coach varsity softball so this time of year is busy for me. We finish up at the end of April so that is when I would like to start something.

Your new combination is one that I'm considering. I'm curious what your numbers end up being on the dyno and track. What did you run in bolt-on form and what did it make on the dyno?
