My car's at the shop right now getting a cam installed and I've got a question about the potential lope. Tuner is installing a custom ground cam and I've been looking around at some different videos of what it may end up sounding like.
Specs:
228/232
0.605 (not sure if that's int/exh or both, that's the only number I got on lift)
114 LSA
Other mods: Intake, long tubes, non-catted x-pipe, stock Ti mufflers
I've found an LS3 with pretty similar specs but I've got an 03Z with the LS6, so it's not exactly the same.
My question mainly is how rhythmic the lope may or may not be? Everything I've seen is leading me to it sounding a little too rhythmic. Also, if it is, can that be tuned out by setting the idle up or down a few RPM? It's also a question of how much different cams sound in a video versus in person.
It's not a make or break scenario, mainly me just speculating while I not so patiently wait to get my car back.
The tuner can set the idle a bit lower which usually gives it a bit more "chop" than rhythm. But those really nasty sounding cammed cars you hear usually have bigger cams.
Heres my Z with a 228/236 600 117. Its got Belanger LTs and catless X.
Perfect, I know I'll enjoy the power. I'm just sitting around speculating about the sound like a little kid at christmas. I kind of figured the idle would be able to "tune" the sound somewhat. I know this isn't going to be a crazy sounding cam, I just want some audible lope sitting at a stop light pretty much.
the tuner can set the timing correction (hope I word this right) during idle. can give it a hard rhythmic chop , or a smother natural lope.. ive had both and I must say with the timing correction off sounds cooler, but I noticed more raw fuel smell and that gets old. * I am not a tuner by any means so my wording may be off..

Car put down 420/400 to the wheels, stock Z06s are putting down around ~320 on his dyno. I haven't heard it yet, picking it up on Friday, pretty excited.
