So I've been looking for a set of sticky tires recently as my cars about to be back on the road after 4 years . The new setups 370 ci, h/c/I, 3800 rpm stall. After asking some local buddies for advice I'm leaning towards ET Street 2's in 315/35r17 or 295/40r17.
Does anyone know if the 315s on 17x10.5 z06 replicas would stick outside the fenders?
If the wheels are true replicas, they will be 9.5" wide. You may need to check backspacing to see if there are clearance issues. The 315s are fairly wide. You can narrow them a bit by installing them on a 9.5" wheel. That is a proven combo.
Will these be street and strip use?
Will they be strip only?
Will they ever see rain?
If they are used on the street, do you require maximum traction?
In general, a 275/40R17 provides excellent grip at your power level and setup. Track only, go with a Hoosier. Street and strip, go with the MTs.
Below is a cut/paste from MT's website.
Going for maximum traction on the street. Unprepped asphalt mainly. I'd love to run it at the strip but unfortunately our only raceway closed down some years ago.
Think the wider 315s have the advantage over a taller sidewall in this case?
They will have similar contact patches since one is wider while the other is taller. That being said, the 315s will give you gear reduction and should suit your needs.

315/35/17 and 275/40/17 are the same diameter, I've run them both and found that I 60' better with the 315s but mph and ET better with the 275s.... the taller 295s loose gear reduction for the A4 guys like me it seems, but not much diff for the 6 speed guys I'm told...
I am running the 295s on the factory 17x7.5 inch fronts. They hook well with a small burnout. You will hook better with the taller tire. If more serious traction is what you want look into the MT street R. They have a 28" tire that looks nasty and will be my next tire when this set wears out.
