Default Performance VS Fuel Mileage?

Our cars blow my mind. I am 53 years old and have been a motor head all my life. Camaro, Monte Carlo, trucks, diesels etc. I now have the car I have been dreaming about since I was in my teens and could never afford. Even in my 20 years in the Navy I could never quite justify buying one. I now have a black Z06 and I wake up every morning, get up and look out the window to make sure I wasn't dreaming!
My question to you folks out there that have years of experience with the LS motors. How do performance mods affect your fuel mileage and street driveability? Personally, 400 HP is plenty. I am spending my lunch money on suspension upgrades currently. Plans are not to mess with the motor too much other than Air Inlet and Filter. I know however that some day the mod bug will bite me and cause me to start tinkering. Anyway, I would appreciate anyone that has done heads/cam/headers/exhaust to let me know how it affected daily street driving. Thanks all for your time and a great website!

I have a supercharger, meth, headers, high flow cats, x-pipe, tune and B&B Bullets. Car has run high 10's. On the way back from Corvettes at Carlisle I reached an average of 28mpg at around 70-75mph with the cruise control on. That's better than my commuter car!

I think fuel economy is more closely related to driving style than performance parts.

I have put over 150k on my daily driver LS engine and with all bolt on mods it gets within a few mpg of stock!

Mod away!

Well I just did heads (243) cam BTR stage 1 , intake LS6, long tube headers. I'm falling in love with my car for the first time. It was decent before, but now it's just what I wanted . I built it for torque and true street performance. I've got 402 rwhp (6000rpm) and 400 torque with 350lbs torque coming in at 2800 rpm and it just builds and stays flat. I can lug thru traffic in 6th gear at 1000rpm doing 45 mph or I can dump the clutch in second at 45 mph and break the rearend loose. Not really sure about gas mileage right now because I can't keep my foot out of it . I just did the build in December . But hey, gas is $2.35 for premium.
