Bought a c5...has a 6psi procharger/auto/cam/longtubes etc...has 305/30/20 perrelli tires and it litterally blows them off from an 80 roll...tires are kinda thin thinking about getting some drag radials in a 20"....is there any traction mods or kits I can buy to help remedy this situation...feels like it has a bunch of power, just cannot anywhere near put it to the ground...car is also lowered on stock bolts I'm pretty sure and we are going to raise it back up...yall help me get a plan I got some buddies I wanna skull drag in some camaro and 5.0s
I would start by getting better tires (R compounds). If that doesn't correct the problem to your liking (and it may not because of your 20" rims), then look into other areas.
You definitely shouldn't be "blowing your tires off" at 80 MPH at only 6 PSI. I'm guessing you don't even have 550 to the wheels, through the auto tranny.
I'm thinking it has something to do with being lowered and having no travel...I just ordered some 315s for it and we raised it up about 3 inches...not sure on the hp but car litterally gets major sideways from a 70 roll and snaps back violently when you try and pedal it...I bought the car unsure of the other mods...haven't really dove into it yet...
What is the date on the tires? What tire did you order in the 315 size? 305 should be more than adequate for your power level IMO, granted the correct tires are on the car. It probably is a combination of things, but, I'm guessing part of it is the tires coupled with the 20" rims.

First, I'd raise the car back up to stock height just to see if anything improves. Then I'd invest in better tires, maybe get smaller rims as well, 20's are big for a C5. A drag radial tire like Nitto or Mickey Thompson et streets should work well on the street with your power level.
Get some good drag radials, something with some sidewall, get rims that fit those. At your power level you should not be having traction issues. Just remembere when you hook, you better have some good diff and tranny parts.

Ditch the 20" wheels for some 18's buy a M/T drag radials and put your air pressure about 20 psi.
