Hey all,
this was my 2nd pass ever down the 1/4 mile strip, I know my launch and 60' time need alot of work. I have a 01 base model with H/C/I hasn't been on the dyno yet so not sure of the numbers. I did more of a aggressive street launch from the light as I only have around 500 miles on the clutch and engine build and didnt want to hurt it yet. Im running Bridgestone RE71R tires so I have some decent traction.
Just curious on any thoughts from some of the veteran drag guys on what my numbers tell you as far as power and possible e/t's once I start launching harder/better.

Can you tell us a little more about your combination? What heads, intake, and cam? Was it tuned? What rear gear and tire? Headers?
There are many variables but in all honesty, and I'm not a stick guy but ... it should run better than that. There are H/C/I cars running 10s and definitely low to mid 11s. The 60' should be a lot lower and some of that will be tires, track condition and driver ability.
My set up is
TSP LS6 2.5 heads
Torquer v4 cam
FAST 92 w/Ported LS2 TB
TSP LT's w/cats & Borla stingers
42lb injectors
slp intake / Vararam air bridge
TSP mail order tune (its pretty close to spot on)
Monster Stg II clutch w/ Tick Master
Z06 shocks,sways,&mono springs.
stock 342 gears
stock wheels with 275/35r18 Bridgestone RE71Rs 200AA tires on the back.
Havent had it on the dyno yet so dont know exact power but probably somewhere in the 440-450 range at the wheels. I did launch soft pretty much like a aggresive street launch and spun a little going into 2nd. It was only my 2nd time on the strip Ive been doing autoX and HPDE. I def. need work on my launch and 60' time. the Cam comes in strong around 2700-3000rpms I might try launching next time in that range and see if it will hook without bogging down.
That sounds like a nice combination with some good parts and pieces. With more practice I bet you'll figure the 6-speed out and how to launch. I'm sure some of those experts will just in here. I know zero about sticks. Drove my buddy's '69 Camaro Stock Eliminator car ONE TIME with a Jerico; that was WAY too many moving pieces. I like watching (and hearing) them leave but not my cup of tea if I had to race one.
I would think maybe invest in a spare set of rear wheels with a stickier DOT tire; maybe a drag radial? There is no reason that car shouldn't run high 11s if you can get it to hook.
High 11s is what im thinking with the stick shift. The bridgestones are pretty sticky but def. not on a drag radial level but they have twice the grip of my Nitto Invo street tires. Not sure how deep im gonna get into the drag racing yet, def. gonna put in more passes though and work on launching her, if i can find a sweet spot with minimal spinning hopefully it will bring my 60' time down below 2.00 secs and get me into the 11s.
Drive it like your trying to break it and it would probably go 11.70's or better on a M/T Drag radial. I had a similar combo but with a ls6 intake instead of the FAST and made 420rwhp and went 11.70's with a stalled a4 consistently.
Car has 11's with that trap speed, but if you hook you will possibly go mid 120's. I went 11.80@118 with a c5 with bolt ons and a 1.74 60'. Keep practicing and you will get there. Stop running on street tires unless you want to break your differential.
If you're serious about getting to the track often, get yourself a drag radial on a diff set of rims. You'll get much better times, more fun because of it, and you won't ever worry about your street tires.
It's hard to say how much you'd gain. you mention that you babied it hence the bad 60ft's. But we can never know just how much.
In my opinion, get that 60ft to 1.9x and get into it and should be easy high 11s from an already 12.8 run. I'd like to see video if you got it. it would help to see what's going on. Do you Data log your runs?
