Default BTR stage 4 cam with m6

Is anyone running a BTR stage 4 with an m6? I think an LS1 with bolt ons has been done enough to not worry about a custom and just buy a shelf cam. The stage 4 is what I'm considering but I just wanted some input on it

I think I found the correct specs for it 235/242 .621"/.592" 111+3.

That is a pretty big cam for just a bolt on LS1 street car, Personally I would look around for something around 230 or less duration there are tons of options out there from BTR, TSP, and others. I think you would get more enjoyment out of a streetsweeper or Torquer series cam. I have the Torquer V4 and am very happy with it good street manners and torque to be had everywhere.

Well I am wanting to make as close to 500 n/a as possible and it's going to take some cam to do it. I have had set ups like that before but always auto. It's being manual that I am unsure of

My current cam is a little bigger than their Stage 4. with 3.90 gears it has great street manners.

If interested, my cam is about to become available.

235/250 .620/.596 115+4

I think you are correct needing a bigger cam, mine is a lot bigger than those mentioned and have all boltons and only put down 441 rwhp on mustang dyno.
add 15% to that for a dyno jet comparison and it's probably pretty close to 500 with an automatic...

good luck with your build. If you run the qtr mile, please stop by the sticky at the top of the page and join the list

Yeah it takes good heads and some rpm to do it. I have made 525 hp to the wheels with a 346 ls1 with an auto on a mustang dyno turning it right around 7800 rpms with 13:1 compression. I also made 495 hp with a 346, stock compression, huge cam, Trickflow 225's. I know it will be harder to do with a stock style intake and hydraulic roller. But I'm sure I will hit the 1/4 with it and I will post up the times

Getting ready for a BTR cam but that Stage IV scared me with a stock bottom end. Way too high on the curve and and pretty low P-V clearance.

Stage III seems ideal but then again, I change my mind ever 3 days

Good Luck

Default Cam and Bolt Ons

I'm just going to give my two cents on this one. Mine is a 2000 FRC and Texas Speed said that the MS4 camshaft would work good. I already have the cam and a ported Vengeance Racing FAST 92, Kooks headers, xpipe. I will buy their heads this winter to go with the transformation with a few other things to complete the project.
TSP said due to the car being light, a manual, and 3.42:1 gears, all will work good with this car. I am old school and still think a camshaft needs to be backed by surrounding components.
Good luck with your performance upgrades and let us know how you like it.

That's a nice car and I always appreciate comments. Here mostly to learn and catch up on being away from performance cars for 20 years myself.

Cam selection was so much easier years ago, mostly because there was NO selection. LOL Nowadays you can call up a cam "expert" and tell him you have blacked out tail lamps and he'll claim he has a custom grind for you.

Like you I believe a cam needs to be backed by surrounding components Everything I've read says the heads flow so well there isn't much to be gained by porting unless your serious about all out performance and trying to trim .2 off your ET. You already did the important things for moving air through the motor.
