Default VRX4 dyno

Got a dyno today. Done on a dyno dynamics. I bought this car in November and put a cam in it. I was hoping for a little more but it will do for now. Tuner said if I get a different intake pipe and get rid of the cats it might do over 400whp. That was my Original goal. Car is a stick 99 Frc, 243 heads, LS6 intake, VRX4 cam, SW headers, not sure about the mid pipe, borla exhaust, 36lb injectors. Any thought or comments would be great. He said the injector duty cycle was about 65%. If I get a different x-pipe and maybe switch to E85 think it will do over 400?? Thanks

I'm wondering if he corrected the dyno reading to emulate a dyno jet?
I run a dyno dynamics dyno at our shop and they read about 13% lower than a dyno jet. Unless you tell it to spit out "Brand X" numbers.

I wouldn't expect an intake pipe and cat delete to add 25hp.

What are the cam specs?

Me neither. 228/230. .588/.592 112. Maybe I picked the wrong cam for my goal?

You might be at your goal if the dyno wasn't told to read in dyno jet terms.

Your combo sounds nice to me. I bet it feels great.

Overall it feels good, just a little short of my goal but that's ok. Thanks for the response.

At 13% it would be 423whp which is more than my goal. I know all dyno's read different but has anybody else run this cam? Similar numbers? Thanks!

Solid numbers for a DD!

Just for reference, I made 380/360 in my 03 Z06 with bolt ons on a Dyno dynamics with only 20 degrees of timing lol

I'd just did the a bolt on build with a custom cam from BTR, .224 .230 .600 .600 with 115 lsa. Result was 386 rwhp, 376 rwtq. On a mustang dyno by Tommy Wong. So you're in the ball park.

Sounds good. Thanks for the comparisons. It's definitely enough to get in trouble with

G5X1 (228/232 585/575), 1.75 comp rockers, fast 90 intake, OBX headers, corsa catback, ford red tops, BTR springs. dynos at both altitude and on different manufacturers all come back to within 3 hp of each other, so this is pretty damn accurate. your numbers seem a tad low, as i wouldnt suspect there to be 50rwhp diff in just an intake. and if anything, your headers should be 3-4 rwhp more than mine.

heads were ported maniacally. took me something like 65 hours.

Another vote for the dyno. I have a set up with a smaller cam that made 402/379 on a dynojet - catted long tubes, ported 243s, LS6 intake and a 222/226 600/600 cam.

I have a ported FAST 92 with an LS2 90mm TB and bigger injectors going in when the weather breaks. Come on 425 hp!

i dont think you'll get 20+ rwhp out of a throttle body alone, and unless your duty cycle was peaked out, the injectors likely arent going to change the power at all. you'd have to bump the cam up a notch or drop some $$ on AFR or Trick heads to definitely get there.

I know 25 is probably unrealistic but I was thinking 15-20 for a ported FAST 92 intake and TB. Am I crazy?

ah, the ported fast might get you there. or pretty close to it. let us know how it goes. im thinking it'll be closer to 415, but your dyno should look a lot like mine, either way. 10rwhp wont be noticeable, and its still faster than 99% of anything on the street and incredibly fun.
