Default Dyno results are in!

For anyone that is curious to what certain mods can accomplish, I just got my car back today. I have a 2001 c5Z with only 9,800 miles on the odometer. I had Proxes Tuning install a custom grind cam that is a 232/240 114+3 and lunati valve springs and trickflow pushrods. The car also has kooks longtube headers and a K&N cai, highflow cats and that is it. EVERYTHING else is bone stock and the car made a very impressive 403 rwhp and 381 ft lbs of torque. He also said his dyno reads 6.5% lower than a typical dyno which puts it in the 420-430 range. Needless to say I am impressed. As far as drivability, it does surge and it does not like the low rpm range. Holy **** the car pulls like a freight train and pulls 0-60 insanely quick! the car seems to be running a lil rich right now which I will ask him about monday. ALSO, for anyone that is debating about an MGW shifter..... I also had one of these installed and it was the best $ EVER spent! I HIGHLY recommend it. The shifts are super crisp with ZERO play!

If it's surging a lot in low idle and smells/acts rich I would be cautious with the tuner as this should be simple to dial in so late in the game.

Can you please explain in simpler terms your concerns? Thanks!

Tuning a car that's been out for 16 years should be easy enough that running rich shouldn't be a thing at all and most of the low RPM surging should be tuned out as well. Some cams will surge in low RPM a little but running rich after a dyno tune is a red flag.

You mean red flag that something is wrong with the car or red flag to find a better tuner? Thanks for your help!

Better tuner. There are guys that tune remotely and don't end up with lean or rich conditions and can smooth out low RPM surging.

The surging at low speed/RPM is the tune.

Did he do any street tuning? I bet you need to remove some timing down low...

Lol, the car ran fantastic the very next day. I drove over to see jim at quick rev (what a great guy) he said the car is running great and that it had to "re learn" its idle perameters since it had a dead battery.

I'm sure the idle will get better but the surging will not.

I'm not going to recommend anyone because it starts a fight. Our forum has a lot of tuners and shops, I would reach out to them.
