Launch Tips Base C5 Auto No Mods
Somewhat embarrassed to ask this question, based on the incredible cars and the setups I've seen here. I have a 2002 base convertible with an auto transmission, 3.15 rear, and 40,000 miles. Semi daily driver. Very simple and plain for now.
What is the best way to launch this from a stop? I have read to turn off traction control, but from there, opinions vary. Use the brake and rev to about 1300-1500 rpms? Just mash the accelerator from the start and go? Lower the rear tire pressure to 25 psi? A lot of the performance tips I have seen are for manuals, or cars with a lot more upgrades than mine. I know I won't be winning any titles with my current setup, but want to put in a decent showing for myself if called out by something I might be able to beat.
I plan to up the performance a little more with long tube headers, a cai, stall converter, and a tune later this summer. From there, maybe a supercharger. But for now it is what it is, and I hope some of the tips will still apply after some upgrades. Thank you in advance for any advice.

in the auto's i've had, idle up to the stock stall with about 1/4 throttle, when you leave punch it 1/2-3/4 throttle, if it hooks go full throttle, you should hook up pretty good in stock form...unless your tires are bad...if it dead hooks just mash it! :-)
