Help me pick a cam!
98 stock LS1 with perimeter bolt heads
LS1 intake
stock exhaust manifolds/cats-- x-pipe and corsa sport exhaust
Vortex air intake
Rebuilt 4L60e with shift kit and cooler
3.42 diff with a YANK SS3200 converter
Getting ready to add:
799 heads hand ported and milled .020"
LS6 intake
Morel drop in lifters with new GM trays
CHE trunion kit
New timing chain and all gaskets
I need to pick a cam, springs, and pushrods still.
Im keeping the exhaust manifolds for emissions because this is a summer daily driver and I dont want hassles keeping it on the road.
I will get shorty headers if/when I find some cheap enough. This car drives really nice and easy even with the gears and converter, and thats what I love about it, so I dont want to give up too much drivabilty. That being said, I do race the car for fun and I love to drive aggressive. I rip the occasional donut in a parking lot, so I do want as much out of it as possible without making it a pain to drive. I dont need all the chop. Just something that works good with my set up. Also I dont want to worry about piston to valve clearance with the heads being milled .020. Auto trans, so I probably need to shift at 6000. Low end torque is great, but mid and high end power need more. Not going for a target HP, or a target ET. I'd like to keep the lift lower as I dont want to change springs every couple of years. Also, what about injectors? will the stock ones be maxed out?
Thanks guys

I would think you can shift at a higher rpm than 6000. I was shifting @6800. I had longtubes on mine though.
Your best bet is to call someone like Texas speed and let them guide you.
