Hi all. Don’t post much but been on the board for a little over a year, gathering info as I learned more about the c5 I had just bought. I’m a longtime racer/builder of various projects but this is my first Corvette. When I bought it, it there were a lot of unknowns. I know someone has been in the motor, but I’m not completely sure exactly what/if anything was done, so I’ll only post what I know.
Took the car to Cecil County Dragway yesterday to get some tuning passes in and to test some of the recent changes made. Pretty happy with how it went but did discover my clutch is by far its biggest limiting factor. Regardless of what my left foot did, the clutch slipped its way to a 1.7 60 foot. Made 3 passes, went 11.09 @ 131.6, aborted the second pass when the car in the other lane made a move to the centerline, and then finished with a 10.95 @ 131.5 on a soft 1.72 60 foot. This was as I drove the car into the track after the 100 mile drive…still had my crap in it, some tools, etc. All I did was adjust tire pressure.
It’s still an LS1, believe it has a small cam in it, 241 heads, A&A V3 Ti with a 3.8” pulley, OBX headers and x pipe into a z06 titanium rear section, Chris1313 dual 450’s, Holley rails and 60lb injectors. It has 4.10’s in the diff and four year old Nitto 305/40/18 Drag Radials. The tune I built seems very safe based on plug reads and data logs. Plenty of fuel and soft on timing, which is how I want it.
As a new Corvette guy, I have to say I am so impressed with this thing. For what went into it, it’s damn quick, is comfy, handles, and generally does everything well. Just a fun car!
I guess we did chat! lol. I thought you were the guy with the white one, or perhaps it was both of you two.
I run No Time. It was my first full pass in the car since I built it. It’s been a long journey to get to this point. I was hoping to get more than one pass in yesterday, but I got there late.
Last full pass I made was in 2016. When it was still all motor 427.
Good results. Getting a good clutch in it and the right size tire would probably help it out the hole a good bit
I haven’t had the guts to bring the rev limiter higher than the 6800 I have it at now. With the 4.10 gear thats in it and the 305/40/18’s, I’m popping the rev limiter as I cross the line. If I go smaller tire, I need less gear or more rpm.
While the 4.10s are fun as hell on the street, they’re not ideal for a supercharged car at the track. Lots of folks have had good success with the stock 3.42 gearing.
As for a clutch, my recommendation is the RXT from McLeod. It’s not cheap, but it’s rebuildable and very street friendly.
Now, as for a tire… the Hoosier QTP (28x10.5) is good for a stick car, as it’s easier on the driveline due to the bias ply sidewall… but, not much fun on the street. And, carrying extra tires and tools and a jack to the track isn’t ideal unless you have a trailer…
Really just depends on how far down the rabbit hole you want to go…
Best of success to you… you have a really fun, 10 second street car…. Not a bad thing at all. Kinda jealous, actually… lol

Pat, sounds like you should find a really good friend with a 3.42 rear that you could talk into trading for your 4.10.
I spun my sbe to 7,000rpm for years at 100,000 miles. Even had stock yellow springs in it still. May be worth extending that limiter just a little to make it through the traps. A 3.42 gear and a 26" tire work beautifully, especially if you have a 2.97 ratio trans. I also ran a 26x8.5/16 Hoosier QTP and the improvement off the line while not breaking things was amazing. Its a lot of changes that may not be worth it seeing as the car already runs well, but if you keep going down the rabbit hole that's a good direction to start.
