if i bought a set of stock ls1 heads and ported polished and milled 30 thousandths and put this on a nearly stock car what could i hope to gain?
are modified stock heads a bad idea?
would i be better off putting different valves springs and retainers?
i am in the process in trying almost the same thing,
I have FLP full length headers, LS6 instake, UD pulley, vararam intake, I am adding the LS6 intake, MTI stage 2E heads with a 04 Z06 cam
I am hoping for 400 rwhp with a 6-spd.
I am wondering if anyone has done this b4?

I am guessing between 20 and 30rwhp. You will not gain power with springs and retainers, just a stronger valvetrain setup.
if i were to have a set of stock heads of the car and time was no option because i had a set of heads still in the car what would you do with the heads to get the biggest bang for your buck?
mill?
different valves?
port polish?
I am not sure, but someone in the know may be able to contribute to this thread.I believe if you mill the heads, you have to remove an equal amount from the intake manifold.I read this article in Hot Rod Magazine a while back, but I don't know if it is the Gospel.I would look into that as it could cause problems down the line when the car doesn't run right due to manifold leaks. :flag
