I picked up my car from South Georgia Corvette in Thomasville Georgia this week. Aaron Scott did a 427 for me with Jim Smith doing the Tuning. It took 3 tries to tune , but it has very good street maners. I am very pleased with the results and with the numbers at 527rwhp and 510rwtq with the temp in the building at 96 deg. Aaron used a C5-R block with a Lunati Rotating Assy., Com Cam, FAST intake , 90mm TB , Cartek 1-7/8 Headers and Exh was by Random Technology a 3 inch System, and a ATI Damper. I asked Aaron to build me a Streetable 427 and he gave me what I wanted. The tuning was not easy. Jim and Aaron worked very hard to get it right, and as I said it is very enjoyable to drive. First class work out of a first class engine builder.......Wayne

CONGRATS very STOUT numbers your new 427 is makng. My motor is VERY similar to yours and these things are real BEASTS!!!! I Take it with the power you laid down your going through a MANUAL tranny. Best of luck and ENJOY your NEW FOUND POWER!
Sorry, yes the car is a ZO-6. The car is lighter and it feels a little loose under power....but, I understand that is somewhat normal for a C5. I have developed a problem with mt tranny ( 3rd and 4th synros. ) So it has been short burst in those gears......Wayne
I'd like to know more about the shop that did the work as well as specifics about your cam. I have a C5R 427 built, installed, and tuned by Cartek in 2002, and am considering going to the FAST intake and 90mm throttle body and possiby ported AFR 225 heads when they arrive on the scene. I'd love to find a shop in the Southeast that does first class LS1 Edit tuning to avoid the 835 mile drive to NJ.
My understanding directly from AFR is that the 225 heads will flow about 320. Stage IIR heads from MTI flow about 320. Stage III LS6 & 6.0 heads flow about 330-340. C5R Heads about 365-380, but then you have all kinds of other nasty issues to deal with. In any case, what are we talking about, five h.p.?
The cam is from Com cam it is a 237/237d / 595L / 112LSA we used 1.75 rockers which gave us +/- 238D /614L / 112LSA. Heads were from LPE with 2.1/1.57 valves. The shop is called South Georgia Corvette, it is located in Thomasville Ga. 229/226-4447 ask for Aaron. He has done several builds for me in the last 3 years and does very good work....and he is completely honest......Wayne BTW the FAST unit and 90 mm TB is good for 30 rwhp!
I'll definitely consider these guys when the time comes. The info about the FAST/90mm is encouraging, since my car made 528 RWHP with a ported LS6 manifold/78mm throttle body combo.
I stopped by Aaron shop a couple weeks ago with a friend who was getting his 03 Cobra dynoed. Whale's car was very nice looking, and I took a pic of his motor.
SGC is a very good place to go to get your work done. Aaron is a great guy, and always has a couple of hot cars he is doing work on.
When I was there he had whlae's car, a TT C5, 2 Vipers, and 4-5 ZR-1's.

MTI Racing and Custom Tuning in Marietta is a very reputable shop. The owner is Reese *** and he knows Vettes. Even drove in the Wrold Cup series for awhile. He can be reached at 770-919-7774.
Thanks George, I dont know if I want any more power. I can not hook up what I have now however, cooler weather will bring more power. Are you goning to BG the end of this Month?....Wayne
Whale, I am running a similar motor with a little less lift cam, but more duration. What was your final compression ratio? I am going for 10.68 to 1, do not want to take chances with California 91 gas, want to get 30,000+ miles on this motor, etc., etc.
TIA
Is Jim Smith from FL or is it another Jim Smith--the one I know lives near Daytona and has worked on my car and is a really big guy about 60yo I would say---and congrads on your numbers--
