To my knowledge the x-pipe is for sound. No hp gains.
I beg to differ,
I have read an x-pipe can add a couple rear wheel hp...nothing huge, but still better performance. Also, the x-pipe should not add sound, it will actually take away the popping when you get off the accelerator that is so common w/ aftermarket exhuast.....
From the several dyno tests I have observed, the change from straight or a "H" to the "X" pipe, showed little increase in horsepower, but did show a significant "compared" increase in torque.
I had only added the Borlas, and drove my '98 a week before installing the "X" pipe, and it did sound better, like it was 'tuned', after the "X" pipe installation. Couldn't really tell any other difference.
