Default Valvetrain noise through Kooks??

I thought I had an exhaust leak when I installed my headers. The car makes a pinging like sound under load, it does not sound like knock, but is pretty close to that sound. The car has been tuned so it better not be knock. Anyway, how much noise do you hear through your Kooks??
Anyone close to Allentown, PA? Can I hear your kooks to compare to mine? Also the car only gained 5HP with the headers, high flow cats and h-pipe. If it is an exhaust leak would that kill my HP??? Should the sound be noticeable at all? What do I do?

Dave,

After installing my Kooks several weeks ago I definitely noticed a slight increase in what sounds like valve-train noise as compared to what I had previously with just the cam. Would let ya listen but I'm really far away here in Texas. Good luck solving your problem.

C'mon. take a Sunday drive up to PA

I've had differing opinions, some say exhaust leak, some say pinging, some say normal.

When the car is cold and I start it up, the noise is noticeably louder, then quiets down after about a minute of idle. After that I can really only hear the noise when I put the car in a higher gear than it should be, like if I'm going 30, put it in 4th then give it gas. Almost sounds like it is pinging. I thought maybe its a small leak and when it gets hot it gets smaller and only leaks under load?

CYA,

Thought I'd pass long a link to JMX's header install page. See the #2 FAQ at the bottom of this page.
