Default First time racing @ E/town!!

Hey guys,

It was great meeting all of you this weekend. I want to thank Rob Z for the tips on launching I'll get the hang of it. Made 3 passes with my new horsepower (412rwhp) and Nitto 555R Drag radials
First pass very weak. I did not get the tires hot enough 2.133 60'
Smoked tires 1-3 and started to smell clutch 13.9 @83.3mph
2nd pass 2.154 60' smoked second and found clutch slipping thru
3-4 13.5@108.7 3rd pass, finally got a technique to getting the tires hot at the line (Thanks Rob!)- and launched pretty hard with little spin
Best of the day 1.79 60' 2,3,4 clutch slipping badly, an embarissing 16.0
@80.9mph. I will be calling Cartek for my new clutch real soon Thanks Again to all you guys. Will see you soon!!!
PS: Great runs to RobZ, Brent, and Genues- also to the Guys @ Cartek performance - Good looking car Dave

There is nothing worse than a bad clutch. My clutch packs in my auto are shot also. You should be running mid 11's when you get your new clutch. I banged the rev limited 6 times in the 1/8 mile and still ran a 7.8 at 86 mph. I would grab then slip and grab then slip.

Good luck getting a new cltuch!

It takes time to get that 'shifting at the track thing' down, gotta go often to fully get the hang of it.
Get that CARTEK clutch in there and keep at it.

Nice meeting youthere as well. This drag racing stuff in a Corvette with all the power we have is quite tricky,to say the least. I am still learning myself, and I hope to be able to get some good tires and improve even more.

Hope to see you again soon at the track. Get that clutch and all will be better, for sure.

Drag racing looks alot easier than it is. Once you get the launch down and some good shiftin', you should fly down the track.

i autocross and just went to drags this weekend.....[my best was 13.1/108.6 ] i must say that corvettes are difficult to learn to drive fast in....lots of power,,easy to oversteer, easy to spin , easy to spin tires then easy to bog down when you try to make corrections....way lots of fun....
the best way to improve is simple....seat time/track time....have fun with all the hp......start savin for tires and clutches

Good job Tom. You cut .4 off you 60' in a day! We'll start going more often now and get you some more seat time. Et's are meaningless right now until you get down the technique. Great meeting you as well.
