I have gone back and forth on the stall converter. I understand the benefits, but I am concerned about shortening the transmission life and breakage to other driveline components (output shafts, etc.). I know that if I do it later I wasted the labor savings of having it done at the same time as the gears.
I plan to enjoy my upgrades so far and continue to evauate future mods. TC is at the top of the list.
I'll make a wild guess just to start things off... 12.8 @108
You really should reconsider installing a T/C at the same time you install your 3.42 gears. A high stall T/C is a must have for an A4. Depending on how you drive your car tranny life should not be shortened especially if you install a good tranny cooler. If you beat on your car alot you can expect to have to replace the stock tranny even with the stock converter.
