Rookie Question

I think you guys are way off.......
So your saying the average 2.73 runs 0-60 mph in 5.5-5.9 seconds....
No Im 100% positive thasnot correct.....
A decent driver in an 01 and up a4 2.73 will run the quarter in 13.4-13.6 in good conditions...
Lets just take 13.5 at 103 mph as the average....
Some people do 13.7 at 102 mph...
Some people do 13.3 at 104 mph ...
So i think 13.5 at 103 mph i right....
ACCORDING TO MOTOR TREND..
VEHICLE 1/4 MILE 0-60
Audi s/4 13.4 @ 105 5.0
Bmw 545I 13.7 @ 102 5.4
CTS/V 13.5 @ 105 5.1
Crossfire SRT6 13.3 @ 107 4.9
JaguarS-typeR 13.7 @ 101 5.2
Lotus elise 13.5 @ 103 5.1
350 Z track 13.8 @ 101 5.3
GTO mn6 13.6 @ 104 5.3
GTO a4 13.9 @ 101 5.4
As you cn see these vehicles are all close to what stock a4's with 2.73's run.....
Ive read o plenty of stock a4's with 2.73's running 13.3 bone stock....
Ive also read of many running 13.8 bone stock....
This really depends on th driver and conditions......
I run 13.5 at 103 mph BONE STOCK in 85 degree weather with a DA of 1300...
This would be a 13.3 in 60 degree weather....
But even leaving it at the average 13.5 @ 103 mph...
Theres no way it will cut a 0-60 mph time of 5.4-5.9 with a half decent diver...
Just think about it......If the average mn6 pulls a 0-60 mph time 0f 4.7-4.9 and clocks 13.1-13.4 through the quarter.....
Wouldnt it make sense that the a4 w/ 2.73 thats clocking 13.3-13.6 is pulling a 4.9-5.2 0-60 mph tme?
Even the GTO a4 posted up top, clocks a 5.4 0-60 mph time..
AND THATS WITH A 1/4 OF 13.9 AT 101 MPH!!!!!!
Iv only read of one person on this board who could never do better than a 13.9 in there a4.......
Most get te 13.3-13.7 I posted earlier...
Evn the people who have slower runners and never do better than 13.7 bone stock are pulling 0-60's in the 5.2 range...
That's still a long way off from mid to high 5's....
I beleave the best example to take from up top is the two GTO times...
GTO mn6 13.6 @ 104 5.3
GTO a4 13.9 @ 101 5.4
These cars ar VERY comparable to our C5's
The differance is in the weight....
Minus 4 tenths from each GTO's 1/4 mile and add 4 mph to there trapp
This is wht you ill get....
C5 mn6 13.2 @ 108 4.9
C5 a4 13.5 @ 105 5.1
That would be a 3.15 a4 vrs an mn6... Not a 2.73 model...
So I deducted 2 tenths for a 0-60 mph run on the a4 model for a run of 5.1 seconds 60 mph
I think you guys are way off.......

itts me so deeply....sniff...snif...
Serously though......
This mis information will have this guy beleaving that his a4 w/ 2.73's only runsa 5.7 0-60 mph time...
Wich would mean that a Z28 that runs 5.3 0-60 mph or a 350Z that runs 5.3-5.8 0-60 mph ( depending on model)would smoke him....
Even the mustang GTthat runs 6.2 0-60 mph isa mtch for a nid to igh 5 second car...
But that is not the case.....
Even the 2.73 a4 will cut a 4.9-5.2 0-60 mph time....
Tht enough to smoke mot cars....
The mn6 will cut a 4.7-5.0 so it's defiently 2-3 tenths quicker....
BUT NO WHERE NEAR THE SECOND QUICKER THAT WAS IMPLIED.....
IF IT REALLY WAS IN THE MID TO HIGH 5'S PEOPLE WOULD BE RUNNING A BEST OF 13.8-14.2 IN THERE A4 C5'S....
But whre only 3 tenths behind the mn6 guys.......
For every mn6 running 13.0 stock.....Theres an a4 running 13.3..
For every mn6 running 13.5 stock.....Theres an a4 running 13.8..
Theres not as much differance as some people try to make it seem like....
And it will be a lot easier fo some one to consistently get the 13.3 out of the a4, as opposesed to the person trying to continuously get the 13.0 out of th mn6....
Even the Z06 with 55 more HP is only 6 tenths quicker than the mn6..
4.3 vrs 4.9
But the mn6 with the same exact engine is gonna be 6 tenths quicker to 60 mph than the a4 due to gearing?????
NO WAY....
I think it's more like this.....
Z06 12.4 @ 114 4.3
C5 mn6 13.2 @ 108 4.9
C5 3.15 13.4 @ 105 5.0
C5 2.73 13.5 @ 104 5.1
Some are a little faster and some a little slower but this is about the average.
"AVERAGE"
Motor Trend contracts extremely skilled drivers that play all day long to get that final optimum posted number. I believe MT posted low 12's for a bone stock Z06. Only a few excellent drivers on this forum have gotten those kind of results. And was probably a cool night with great track conditions to boot.
The average driver in an average C5/a4 with 2.73's ain't gonna break into high 4's or probably even low 5's. Gotta swap that rear and then the auto's are very consistent and fast.

Ive taken my vector gtech meter to the track several times and it's accurate to within a tenth...
Im usualy in the 5.0-5.2 range in my bone stock 04 w/ 2.73's.....
This is followed up by a 13.5-13.7 1/4 mile time that the actual track always confirms.....
Even the 1/8 is within a tenth between the two......
The C5 is quick weather your in a a4 or mn6...
A good driver in a mn6 could be getting 4.8-5.0 all night on 13.3-13.5 runs.....
It's just harder for them to do it consistently......
I just step on the gas and go....The car changes to second right around 55 mph.....
You dont have to be a race car driver to run a high 4 or low 5 in your c5...
It's the guys in mags that have ran 4.6 and 4.7 (there are plenty that have done it) that are pushing the limits of the C5..
These are the real race car drivers.
