Default First time at track, questions.

Last night was the first time I have ever gone to a drag strip (legal), and I ran my car 4 times...
I have the following modes on my MN6 Coupe:

LS6 Intake
Blackwing Intake
Borla Stingers
TPIS Longtube headers
Random Cats and X Pipe
4.10 Gears

I have never run my car before, and last night my best results were as follows:
RT - .322
60' - 2.316
330' - 5.935
1/8 - 8.819
MPH - 86.59
1000 - 11.276
1/4 - 13.335
MPH - 110.47

My Fastest run was:
RT - .467
60' - 2.316
330' - 5.935
1/8 - 8.819
MPH - 86.59
1000 - 11.276
1/4 - 13.335
MPH - 109.72

Now I know my car should be capable of mid to high 12's after these mods, but I just don't know how to launch... I tried dropping the clutch at 1500 RPM and just had tons of wheel spin, due to the 4.10's... After that I didn't even drop the clutch. I put the car in Performance mode and Tour. Performance yielded my best MPH of the night, and I slightly missed 3rd that run as well. My last run was my best R/T as I tried to pay attention better. I can't get my 60' time down, how can that be done? I was thinking of better tires, but I wan't runflats, and not really into drags.

Any help please.

I assume you are still running run flat tires. With 4.10 gears you really need DRs to get MUCH better 60 ft. times. Your 60 ft. times are killing you. With DRs you should be able to easily get your 60 ft. times down to the 1.7 range or maybe lower. That translates into to mid 12 second ETs. Good Luck.

Your 60' ft times are whats killing you. Better tires will help along with a heathy burnout. Track prep also is a factor. I have problems with my 60' times as well so don't feel bad.

Ya, start with the launch & tire pressure. You can get a 2.0x 60 ft on runflats, but you have to master releasing the clutch. Try the run flats in the low 20's psi range. In my 99 with 4.10's, I found the best launch rpm to be in the 2000-2500 range, depending on track prep. You have to find the sweet spot by feathering the clutch out. Dumping the clutch willl roast the tires every time. It takes a little practice. I hardly ever spin the tires, if anything I bog the car down. I have nitto drag radials though. If you plan to go to the track alot, consider some drag radials on a set of spare rims just for track days. Have fun!

Those 60ft times are atrocious. If you are using runflats airing them down will do little good. Ask me how I know. The sidewalls are still too stiff.

Invest in a good set of drag radials and maybe a line lock, and improve those 60' times and your ETs wil drop.
