Friend just bought an '03 350z with a stillen supercharger, some minor upgrades, and a pair of obnoxious mufflers. He is claiming 420hp at the fly with a 0-60 of 3.84. Supposedly the car has also ran a 13 flat in Cali where the car originated. For the past week he has constantly told me his ride will spank my baby which is a '99 A4 that consistently runs mid to high 12's in the high altitude of Utah. Generally, what mods would it take to beat his Z drivers being equal? I'm not real familiar with the new Z's so any info will be appreciated.

 

Find out what his MPH is.. It's only fair that you race him with a C5 that has a blower.. .

I now run a bet of 13.0 instead of my prior best of 14.3 pre blower..

It's just so funny cause ther are people in bone stock mn6's that run around 13.0 stock....

And guys in te weaker 2.73 a4 running 13.3 stock....

It's just so hilarious...

Those guys in there 350 Z's or there SRT-4's just love to say how their car ran a 13.9 bone stock and how they saw this guy in an C5 never do better than 13.8.....

The truth of the matter is that seeing an srt-4 or 350Z run a 13.9 BONE STOCK is abut as rare as seeing some someone run a 12.9 BONE STOCK in there C5....

And the guy they saw run a 13.8 in his C5 was probaly in a 2.73 a4....That could probaly run a 13.4-13.7 once the guy learns to drive it...

Even the slowest a4 2.73 C5 will detroy the quickest of 350 Z's or SRT-4's.......

Same thing with the mustang Cobra guys.....
Theve got a basic mustang that isnt even a true sports car cause it cant handle or grip the road in the leaste...

It's just the sae 4.6 liter engine that all th 260 hp stangs have.....

So they put on a different hood and supercharge it and put a little Cobra on the side and then brag about how the car can match or take a C5.....

It's just crazy man.......

If yu just put a mild 3-5 pound boost supercharger on a corvette straight from the factory it would be a high 11 low 12 second car bone stock.......

And they could sell it for only 7 grand more then the base C5....

They could easly do it but never will cause it would throw off the hole industry.....

Who would pay 85,000 ( Viper) through 500,000 (Enzo)....

When they could pay 60,000 on a supercharged vette tht runs with the Enzo???

Ford already proved this cncept with the Fod Gt....


Take the same 5.4 liter egine that I got sitting out in my 2001 lincoln Navigator right now an supercharge it..

Throw the blower/engine in beautiful car with some History and walaa.....SUPERCAR......


SORRY I got off subject....If you run high 12's you should take him no problem....

 

Running mid to high 12s, you should take him. Now you haven't told us much about your ride...with some gearing and tires at the rear (if you have these, how about a torque converter?), you will look at the 350Z through your rear view mirror all the way down the 1320. Good luck.

Line them up and Spank'em. Is what I do, but I have MN6 car. Your converter is hurting your 1/4 performance. List of S/C cars that I have run and beat. 01 Mustang GT with procharger, Infinity something with procharger, FWD Talon with 20lb boost, SRT neon. And in alaa fairness an AWD Talon with 26lbs of boost, wooped my pretty good once. Then he blew off his blow off valve on the next run...

 

I'm having a real hard time believing the 0-60 in 3.8 seconds.
Cars that run in the very low 12's and high 11's hit sixty under four seconds. Not car that run 13.0. Anyway, If he really does have 420 horsepower, his car should be capable of running in the high 12's as well. Don't think it's going to be a walk in the park, because it won't. Trust me, a 350Z on boost definitely has some snot. But 3.84 to 60?...I don't think so.

For more comparison my mods are: Blackwing, powerduct w/coupler, LT 1 3/4" jet hot headers, LS6 manifold, 160 thermo, upgraded wires and plugs, 3" straights instead of cats, Borla XR-1, TCI 4000, 3.90 rear, and the transgo kit should be installed before I tango with the Z. Again I'm generally in the 12.6 range for the alititude is a killer and I rarely light up the rears for sake of tread life. I seriously doubt he'll take me but if he does it won't be too long before I destroy him for my baby will be blown in spring. Keep the info comin'

 

Knowing all your Mod now, just go and Spank'em ... I would even give him a shot in my stock FRC (With DR's).

 

I remember a guy here in Dallas with a procharged 350Z and his best 1/8 mile time was a 8.37 around 86 mph. My guess is you should beat him pretty good.

 

Get him! There are tons of 350zs here. I have had 2 mess with me on the street. One with a wing, neon, fart cans... saw him at the track the next day and he would not run my slow Z (12.5 right before I saw him and oops he was running 14.0???). The other has the same mods but stickers (those had 10HP easch right ) but he does not take it to the track. They where nice cars at 1st, now they are too common. Get some!

I almost bougt one a year or so ago......Nice car but very cmmon now....

Slow too......Fastst Ive evr sen one go stock is a 14.4...

Not bad for a v6 though.....

But still a second behind the average C5...

Takes a blower just to get them even with a C5....Let alone smoke one...

Man Im happy I hav a C5.....

I remember when I thougt owning a car that went mid to low 14's stock was fast...

Now that would be a track day from Hell.....

Can you imagine how much that would suck....

To keep thinking to your self......Man 13's are mine with just a few more mods..

And then some guy in a bone stock 98 Z28 with 80 thousand miles that he just paid 7 grand for goes and pulls a 13.7-13.9 all night????

Some one could make the same argument with a Viper board saying tat about the 350 hp C5.....

Just a few more mods and 12's are mine....Wouldnt that suck viper budy....???

But a Vette Base around 45,000 while a Viper bases arund 75,000

So go figure...

But a 350Z can be had for around 33-38 thousand while a C5 can be had for 42-47 thousand now...

So theres a big diferance

 

Its ok to set up a Date with a 350Z... just as long as it is willing to go all the way on the first date...
