How do you know you need them? What kind of mods have you done to your car? FWIW, I ran my Vette this summer to darn near 10's and didn't have a cage in it. Not that I'm "proud" of not being safe, but I am having a real hard time committing to cutting my Vette for a cage.

When the guy at the track says "the rule is 7.49 and you need a bar, you don't have one, DON'T RUN 7.49 " with a smile on his face.
dream, rollbar is minimum 5 points and does not cut the car but the carpet (and some bolt holes). Under 10.00 1/4 s when you need a cage which is >= 10 points including through the dash which does cut the car.
lavoieste it is a distance to drive but you can check out www.eastcoastsupercharging.com as they make a nice bar for verts.
Thanks guys for all the information! To be honest, I didn't realize there was a difference between a "roll bar" vs. a "cage"..... always thought they were synomous terms.
I find that requirement very interesting in light of the fact that all the Open Road Races consider the integral roll cage of C4's and C5's sufficient to run in the top divisions (168 mph tech speed). Wonder why drag racing doesn’t? – C
