All else even, the 97 had lousy horsepower.
I knew a guy that had one with a Vortec and AFR heads and was pushing 7 psi and still only dyno'd 310/345 at the wheels. Our cars do close to that from the factory.
I wouldn't underestimate the Stang as they are cheap to mod and can be made Very Fast for peanuts.
Off the line I would guess you should have little to no trouble pulling away especially if he misses a shift.
At highway speeds he has the edge with the stick, but with your engine pulling atleast 100 more than his... stock for stock anyway, you should be able to pull away even though he's boosting a few psi more.
Again, guess work because a lot of details are missing for a better estimate.
And of course a lot will depend on driver skill. If he's not experienced, he's likely to spin his nuts off from a standing race.

thanks dude it's good info. and i dont have any more info. about that mustang right now.
so it sound easy to kick his *ss .
Whoever wins, one fact remains....He's driving home in a Mustang and you're driving home in a Vette. Heck I could make a Pinto fast
If you have traction....you will put 3 car lengths on him before he hits second gear. You should continue to pull him after that. I don't see it as an issue at all.
