Default Z16 G-Tech Results

I got to play with a buddy's G-Tech today. Lots of fun and provided great feedback for my launches. I made 3 complete runs.

Conditions:
1. Filled the tank w/ 93 Octane (Conoco).
2. Weighed car on scales....3140 lbs.
3. Together my buddy and I weighed 430 lbs. We rode together on all 3 runs (3570 lbs).
4. Temp: 34 deg F PA: approx. 1300 ft.
5. First two runs were on a semi-bumpy road. Last run was on a smooth surface.
6. 2480 miles on the car, stock tires, and K&N filter.

Results (Whether fact or fiction, it was fun):

Numbers given in this order:
60ft; 330ft; 1/8mi & trap; 1000ft; 1/4 & trap; 0 - 60mph

1. 2.265s; 5.621s; 8.325s@93.69mph; 10.626s;12.564s@117.65mph; 4.761s

2. 2.143s; 5.591s; 8.343s@92.34mph; 10.684s;12.655s@115.83mph; 4.921s

3. 2.089s; 5.425s; 8.153s@92.91mph; 10.491s;12.465@115.62mph; 4.485s

I was happy with my 1/4 mile times but a little disappointed with my 0 - 60 times. I'm thinking I let off the clutch a little too quickly. It's difficult for me to gauge how much wheelspin is desired. Sorry I can't give hard and fast #'s on when I shifted. I basically shifted by feel and sound (around 6300rpm I'm guessing). I'm a rookie when it comes to precision. I'm more instinctual in that regard as I have had no formal training (something I would like to do in the future). Any feedback for improvement appreciated.

Thanks!

Nice #s...I've always wondered how accurate the gtech things are...Seems to be fairly realistic numbers...Try out some drag radials and watch your 60' drop

From what I understand they are very accurate, but the trap speeds are usually about 4 mph optimistic.

Yep, that's exactly right, and the 1/4 mile ET is typically about 0.3s optimistic also. A friend of mine ran my G-Tech several times on the track with his car and I have run mine on the street quite a few times, it is an excellent tool, although it is most accurate at short distances. The PASS software is the coolest (Competition Pro model only).

I used a G-Tech at the track a few times, at the most the E.T. was off a tenth, and the MPH was always about 3-5 mph too high.

Default Weight = Bad

Two grown men in car, bad weight penalty, Why do you think the General lightened the Zo6, Hell, we don't even have a Power Antenna!
All kidding aside, with no passenger you will run about 3.8 sec. 0-60, assuming good conditions and shifting. I sucked so bad my first 0-60 was over 5 sec. with 1,100 mi on the car. You other times seem strong - good job!

I have one of these..

0-60 is hard to do - i never could get it under 5 sec's and the last time out with drag radials on - and still spinning in first i managed a 4.8 and my 1/4 was 12.9 @ 130

I went to the track with it as well and i did not see the 0-60 as i was too busy watching the boost, but the 1/4 showed 11.9 @ 130 and i ran a 12.4 @ 116

So - they can be off... In my case - the car wheel hopped bad both times, so i think that throws off the g-tech a bit..
