Default Ferrari beatin'

While we're on kill stories I felt compelled to put down my favorite. It happened in Nov. of '04 and I never wrote it up as I seldom street race and people often respond with little "bs" quotes and tell you you're makin' stuff up for some strange and/or trivial personal reasons.

On the NJ Turnpike at night, very little traffic and clear, dry conditions.
Came up on a Ferrari 456 (had to look it up to make sure I got the correct model) We hit it around 65 and ran up to 120. Both times I put several car lengths on him before backing down. Driver skill is almost always impossible to know, but he was pushing it hard.

They were disontinued in '97 and had a stock output of ~430ish.
But for a $200k ride, I had a rather sizeable grin.
That's my story and I'm stickin' to it.

Not a lot of driver skill involved in 60-120 runs. What mods have been done to your car?

Reeeeeally? I beg to differ. I've seen and done plenty of stuff that can booger up a street race.
1. Does your opponent shift at the peak of their power band?
2. Do you miss a gear because of the excitement of the race?

And a few more boneheaded things many of us have done at one point or another. I agree it takes more skill from a dead launch, such as how to get your car to hook. Something I happen to suck at, but am working on. Hence my smokin' 2.2 60's

Mods are in sig.

Mos tof those 456's are Automatics!!! Doesn't take a lot of driver skill to stand on the Throttle! but not to beat up on you, because anytime you put down a car that Cost over 4 times as much as yours it is fun! but the 456 is a family car, a 4 seater Ferrari....But hey, great fun anyway!

Well dammmmn... so much for the missing the shift theory
It was still a blast to smoke him though. I couldn't figure out what the heck it was until I saw the emblem on the rear of the car.

It looked a little like a Jag from a distance. Not one of Ferrari's better design ideas.

Have I ever told you about the Yugo I killed.....

Only thing that keeps stopping me (other than wallet thickness) is Dave keeps taunting us with that new big block beast. I could afford the darn engine, but it's all the extras I'll need to hold that kind of power that I'm having trouble with.

I have beaten a 360 quite badly and also lost to an F40. Ran the F40 up to 140 - that thing was quick. I don't race often on the street, but that was a special occasion - I didn't mind losing either. Driver was cool too.

I bagged my first Ferrari last spring. I hang it proudly on each post.
Man it was fun to trounce on a car 3x the cost of mine. But he gets the last laugh because he's driving the chick magnet. Luckily for me, I'm married.

Oh yea...IB4TL

Nice Scott, that is an awesome feeling. It brings back memories of my 85 C4 and a Porsche turbo on the NJ turnpike many years ago.

Dude, you're evil...

I know about your payment plans too. The last time I went in for an $1800 dollar upgrade, I walked out the next day with over $4k in new goodies!

I'm glad I did though.
I've been sick for a couple days, but will drop my ride off tomorrow so you can have it for the week.

Thanks brother

Street racing is a ton of fun when conditions permit. I wait for clear/dry roads when there is little to no other drivers on the roadways (which never happens often enough )
The problem is Murphy's law of street racing.
When the roads are clear, no one wants to race. When it's rainy and traffic is heavy, you'll always find a moron who thinks its a good idea to race.
