Default Astrophotography - Post your images

Recently I have been trying astrophotography to get double duty out of my camera and lenses.
Fairly new at this. I'd like to see some of your efforts good or bad. Please list your equipment/exposures/processing etc so we can all learn.

Here's my first try at M-31 (Andromeda galaxy). Canon T6i - 200mm f/2.8 - iOptron SkyTracker (original version), 40 x 60 sec exposures stacked
in Deep Sky Stacker and processed thru GIMP. Lots of room for improvement especially in my first time using GIMP for processing.

I would like to get into it but just carrying enough stuff and have a hard enough time using Elements to edit with. Great shot and a tip of my hat to you.

I've got a few when I was into in. No more time after having kids. Cgem mount, Orion 8inch Astrograph with a Canon t2i with the exception of M16. That was shot by an astrocam.

Whirlpool Galaxy
Orion Nebula (my first shot)
M16
The moon

Very nice images! I especially like your M-51 (Whirlpool galaxy). I believe it's further out there and harder to image than M-31.

Thanks! I always wanted to shoot Andromeda but I never got the time when it was the time of year to do it.

I have to agree. I don’t have the equipment for this kind of photography so I’ll just watch everyone else. Really cool pics.

I wish I had more time for Astro, but here are a few I managed. This is without a guide scope so you can only do so much. Telescope is an ancient Celestron C8 on a modern mount.

Pleiades

Orion

2017 Great American Solar Eclipse

Andromeda

You should give wide sky astrophotography a try. All you need is a wide angle lens/tripod and limit yourself to 20 sec exposures or more until you see star trailing. I would love to live in AZ for the dark skies.

Beautiful images. Love your Pleiades (M-45). I tried imaging M-45 but haven't had much luck with bringing out the nebulosity like you did.

The only "Astro" type of photography I have every done before...and I don't think this qualifies anyway is the the Solar Eclipse. Here are all of the phases that I merged together:

Neat pic. That's beyond my abilities in PS.
I think you have some pretty fast lenses, you'd be a natural.

Actually just remembered I took this past January of the "Blood Moon". Slightly cropped. Not nearly as sharp as I would like. Taken with a 400mm using a 1.4x teleconverter on a Canon 7Dii so EFL was ~ 896mm and still not enough reach.

Thanks. It was done with image stacking a dozen or so two minute exposures. No way to bring out the nebulosity without that.
