I love shooting birds, but need to get better and make more opportunities for myself (going back to Alaska next summer, that's a start). But......last year I got a great opportunity to shoot some hummingbirds on my back deck. D7100 with a 70-200 f/2.8 VR lens, hand held, wide open, through glass windows, and I was stunned at the detail I managed to pull.
I was sitting out yesterday and my eye caught a Hummingbird checking out something. Unbelievably, I was able to go inside, change a lens, and still get a couple of pictures. The owl is Western Screech Owl.
Hand held at my age ain't easy!
I did go and get tripod for this photo, the owl was high up in a tree and far away.
