From a Photographic standpoint nothing special about this shots, but this is a Proud Papa moment for sure. This was my 11 year old Daughters first time jumping in competition and of the (5) Events she entered she took home (2) First Place and (3) Second Place ribbons!
When a 75 pounder sits atop a 1400 pound animal and has complete control there is a mutual trust between horse and rider. Your daughter is an accomplished rider at a very young age. I think I remember you saying your wife was an Olympic athlete. Is Olivia interested in pushing her talent and dedication to that extent? I'll bet Pappa was busting at the seams and had every right to be proud.
Nicely done Olivia.

PS. Are the straps below her knees to keep her in the saddle if she loses balance?

She road for pleasure when she was really young as I had access to many horses for the Equestrian Barn I photographed for...then picked it back up seriously like 4 years ago so we gave her actual lessons. I have been working with horses for about 15 years now and have seen some crazy stuff that very young riders do without any fear at all! My Daughter right now is only jumping around 2' obstacles (the horse is obviously going higher than that though) so still relatively safe once you get over 3' then it starts getting more dangerous. Below is a girl about my Daughters age (though much more experienced) going over a 2' jump then beneath that is a very experienced rider (about 17 yo) jumping about 3' 6"
Those are actually riding garters for her pants so they don't ride up when jumping.
