I've got the Canon 100mm Macro as well. Played around with it a couple of years ago. Eventually I want to learn focus stacking.
What camera are you using? Mine has it built in which makes it a breeze but you can do it manually as well. There are a ton of youtube videos on it. Once you take the pictures you want to stack use Helicon Focus 8. It's a piece of cake to use and pretty cool to watch the process.
Get a macro flash that goes on end of lens.. will greatly enhance pics and extend what you can do... most of these flowers very tiny, except for Iris of course.. I shot most of these with flash 1/250th
The shots I posted were taken with a Nikon Micro 200mm F4 but no flash just natural light. As mentioned previously fill flash helps. I like the 200/f4 with the increased working distance, puts me outside the creatures circle of fear.
Haven't done anything with focus stacking although I see amazing images on other sites.
For the past several years I've been focused more on wild life, but still run for my macro when I see something like a praying mantis!
This wolf spider came over for a visit today. LOL This is made up of 62 different pictures stacked into 1 final image using focus bracketing. I use a program call Helicon Focus and this video shows the process. You import all the pictures, it than stacks them all and gives you the final outcome.
