Ok, I will also have some tools (normal wrenches, a few sockets, a screwdriver or two, etc....) just in case. All part of the fun

If you want, I would be happy to drive your beautiful Sweet Silver Corvette for you
I'd even bring it back with a full tank

 Have a great time, enjoy while you can!

Dad will have the '69 but I can never decide between my '74 coupe and my '02 Z06. I should probably take the '74 as I have taken the Z the last couple years.

I'll be there early in my Arctic White C6. Thought about driving the 65 but tires are old but look great and I just don't trust them on a longer Interstate run. Gotta replace them. Last year was a good turnout with all the lots and side streets around his shop filled with Vettes clear out to the main road. Weather looks to be good.

Edmund Iverson 10-19-2019 02:54 PM

So realistically, how early is "too early" to arrive? I don't want to get there at 9 or 10am and be in the way of the folks getting things prepared.

J.Moore 10-19-2019 04:37 PM

I think I left my house about 9 or 9:30 last year rolled in about 10 and seemed about right to me. There were already cars there. Cars kept coming in clear up till 12 or 1pm. Get there early enough so you can walk around stretch the legs out and see all the cars. Go thru his shop too, food trucks were there early as well.

GRipp 73 10-20-2019 09:36 PM

What a fun journey it was today. We got on site a little later than I wanted and had to rush to get things done. Register, get a quick bite to eat, look thru the shop, and get back in the car and drive! I really wanted to chat a little more with people because that is part of the fun, but really didn't get a chance to.

Then we did not return back to the shop after the park pit stop. We kept heading east and back to CBus.

I will say I was a little concerned twice on the cruise. The first time was when I got caught at a red light in a small town and lost sight of the others in front of me. Yes, I had directions, but I wasn't really following them, and my five year old co-pilot can't read just yet let alone follow the long list of turns. Fortunately, I was able to catch up and I did not let them out of my sights. The second scare came at the round-a-bout. I was following a silver C5 and we were three quarters of the way thru when a lady probably in late 70's to early 80's just decided it was her turn and pulled out in front of the C5. They locked up and hit the horn, and I locked up right behind them. Good thing my father in law taught me that no matter how fast the Corvette goes, it better be able to stop. I don't have power brakes let alone ABS or anything else like that, but those four wheel disc brakes are strong and will stop true and straight.

Now for the photos:

These are from around the Restoration Station Shop:

Once we got to the park, the little one wanted her chance to take on the curves herself.

Since we weren't returning back to the shop, we took a couple of lake photos on the ramp real quick before heading home.

The one other part that was really fun was that there were a couple of spots where people were sitting, waiting, waving, and enjoying all the Corvettes that went by.

If anyone knows, I would love to know what the final count was. It looked like a great turn out, and was a lot of fun to be a part of.

Safe Travels Everyone!

couldn’t make the cruise portion of the even so I left just before 2pm and made the first couple turns and found a spot with a few others to watch them all go by. Counted 223 that did the actual road tour, someone will chime in later with the official count of the total cars the showed up to the event

That's dad's '69 and the reason for me joining this forum in my younger years. The '74 and '02 in front of it were mine. Glad you guys made it safely through the journey both to and from and the tour itself. Your car was parked about 4 or 5 ahead of us at the halfway point and as we walked back from the restroom I commented to dad about how beautiful the '73 silver 4 speed was. Love the '73 license plate too!

Moman01 10-20-2019 11:14 PM

Had a couple C7’s behind me that was getting on it a little then came around a curve and had to slam on the brakes because of the stopped line waiting at a stop sign backed up.

I had a great time! I can't wait for next year! It is always a blast to see so many Corvettes in one place.

Thanks for the compliment. It is a bit of an older restoration right now and getting ready for another in a few years. My plan is to get it back up into great condition for it's 50th! The nose finally cracked on me over this past winter, so it will be time to replace that with a fiberglass version, and really just give the car another once over. It is fun to drive. I am happy with the vintage plates too, helps people figure out the year of the car when they pull up from behind.

And if I heard correctly, it is a ZZ4 engine but still had the Crossfire carb on top? Looked good and that must be fun to enjoy on the backroads.

GRipp73, thanks for catching a pic of me and my wife in the green c5 at the halfway point! This was my first fall colors tour, and certainly won't be the last!
Here are a few pics my wife took during the drive;

I got there so early, I was able to park in the lot at Restoration Station next to a fantastic Black Rose Metallic '17 Stingray

Let's roll!

We loved seeing the many groups of Corvette fans, of all ages, who were clapping and cheering us on!

There were only two of us in DBGM C5's and the other one didn't take the drive, so I felt honored to represent our little niche of color from the year 2000

My wife caught a pic of me having fun with the fellow drivers

Look at those Vettes!!

I'm thinking of changing the interior color of my C5 to match this '65 convertible that looks like it just drove off the showroom floor

Time for the return trip!

I'm so glad we were able to drive the covered bridge twice!

we were excited to be right behind an awesome '67 convertible on the way out (my favorite year), and the entire experience was more than I hoped for!
A special shout out to the city of Springboro and the Springboro police dept for their "escort"; the officers were courteous and even waved at us as we went through town while they held traffic for us.
I met some great folks and made a lasting fond memory that will last me til next October. Thank you Jeff and crew at The Restoration Station for this great event!

This was my first time as well. And I talked the in-laws in coming over from Indiana to do the tour with us, and it was their first time as well. I really would not have a clue about cars if it wasn't for my father-in-law. If only I could learn half as much as he has forgotten about working on cars.

Hopefully we can turn this into a yearly cruise. I will have to keep the old '73 up and running just so I can make this little bit longer of a trip than I normally take in on. I also try to get to the Dayton Cars and Coffee once or twice a year as they have a great turn out there and that isn't too far from Restoration Station.

I kept up with the C7s and a C5 behind me didnt keep up a few times................................... ...............

Daypoblue 10-22-2019 06:28 AM

I was driving the C5 in front of GRipp 73... I was pretty sure it was over for both of us !!
I talked to Jeff at the 1/2 way point. He said there were about 250 people that registered. I would guess at least 50 didn't actually go on the trip.
