I'm kinda interested in what was the manufacturer of the front and rear suspension

ACfarmerNH 11-07-2019 12:18 PM

I like it... will have to follow this thread

Detroit Speed- be sitting down when you see the price tag...just sayin...

Detroit speed when cost is not a problem. It works well and will win.

Jakeinge 11-07-2019 04:21 PM

Yes Detroit speed front and rear jri coil overs baer 6s brakes front & back ls7 & t56 it will be my first time doing the ls swap on anything.

71 Vert LS1 11-07-2019 05:23 PM

Very cool looking headers.

SHARKBIT77 11-07-2019 06:27 PM

:lurk:

Corvettedave02 11-07-2019 07:02 PM

Very nice! I’m glad to see side pipes. What are the motor specs?

Jakeinge 11-07-2019 07:49 PM

Motor is an ls7 h/c/I I bought from a forum member from a c6 z06 estimate to be around 600 crank hp but do not know exact

jokeitch 11-07-2019 08:16 PM

open question, does that detroit speed decalink rear make it such that the diff is no longer a suspension member? and the half shafts are not the endlinks?
Or is the diff still an integral piece even with all that

also, considering the front+rear cost is like 16 grand, why not go for one of those complete replacement frames for 17.5k?
http://roadstershop.com/product/full...vette-chassis/

Jakeinge 11-07-2019 08:26 PM

Yes the DSE rear makes the diff not part of the suspension and I got a pretty good deal on the suspension But I was also looking at going with an SR111 frame

wabco40 11-08-2019 03:40 AM

Very nice build. However those screw holes temporarily holding the flared fenders in place will come back to haunt you.

Dazaa Rafae Aman 11-08-2019 07:18 AM

Love the wheels and flares, very excited to see how this turns out

Jakeinge 11-08-2019 07:28 AM

Thanks! And I will be glassing everything together and have filled the holes with panel bond so I hope I don’t have issues with it but we will see!

Made a little progress Hope to set the motor and trans over in the frame this week. Curious as to what setup everyone is using for hydraulic clutch?

Nice work- really great combination of parts. Looks like it'll be a beast!!!

Curious as what you are going to run for the intake?

Thanks and as far as the intake I have not decided yet but I would like to get it out in front to some cool air but we will see.

ygto1 01-13-2020 09:53 PM

Doesn't look like your going with power brakes. I don't see a brake booster? What's your thoughts on brakes?

Jakeinge 01-13-2020 10:01 PM

well the car orig had power brakes but for what I’m going to do with this car everyone recommended manual brakes as they are more consistent I guess and you don’t have to worry about making vacuum for the booster.

ygto1 01-13-2020 10:18 PM

What are your intentions with the car? If your going to put it on a road race track I would recommend power brakes. Looks like you have a Baer system? There is nothing like power brakes on a track car with a big brake kit! Just a thought. Also have you considered a FAST 102 mm intake with Nick Williams throttle body? Love the Detroit Speed set up!!

Just some food for thought-

Years back when I was looking at doing an LS swap (went in a totally different direction!!!) I was looking at turning around the intake and drawing air from the cowl.
Just a little reworking required (wires/oil pressure sensor) on the motor.

On the car- redo the wiper set up and it's a straight shot.

The motor is mounted sideways- but the intake is flipped around-

I plant to autocross the car some and maybe a little road racing but for right now I plan on running a factory intake but I would like to upgrade to a fabricated intake at some point

Metalhead140 01-14-2020 10:57 PM

Ditch the power brakes... I love the manual brakes, I built a bias bar setup so that I can tune front to rear balance properly too. With the right master cylinder bore and pedal ratio you'll have way better feel and as a result better control at the limits than with a booster, I'll never go back. And yes, my car sees plenty of track time, circuits and hillclimbs.

Purchased from custom image corvette very nice parts the front require a bit more work if you want to retain the 70-72 vents

Almost looks like a rusty old Chevrolet with that paint. If I started with a car like you're starting with I too would have inclined to go a bit more radical. As it is, my car was pretty nice.

A question about the flare attachment. What are those fasteners? I assume they come out somehow eventually. In aircraft assembly there are temporary fasteners that go in and out with a special tool. They were called Clecos. And are probably still in use.

And ... those sure look like the same Fikse wheels that I have on my car. 18" x 9". Very nice and very expensive. Probably cost as much as the car. Hoosiers in this picture.

what size tires are you using?

Most all trailer queen c4, c5, c6 SCCA road racing vettes used that tire combination starting in the early 2000's. I was using 295 Hoosier R1 fronts with 4.5 BS. So I had to try 20 mm wider fronts 315 and see what changed. First time out and really working the tires I polished the frame in both the front and rear of the front wheel wells. No big deal just remember to not turn as hard

They needed probably 4 inch BS with my 79 vette and my lap times were very consistent with 295 fronts without any rubbing so I abandoned the 315 plan. I had 58 rear 42 front weight bias so I didn't need the wider tire

The cool factor is there ..... just hope that they have good wet conditions tire tread

damn how did you pull off 58 rear 42 front that's more like a mid engine car number.

Yes I used 3m panel bond to mount the flares then I used fiberglass resin and mat then some tiger hair witch is basically fiberglass filler and now I am using body filler to smooth out the glass then I will start priming with polyester primer and blocking with 180 then a final prime with 2k primer and block with 320 and t go over it all with a DA and a foam pad with 600

Great work. Thanks for sharing. Did that stock power steering pulley work. I had to go to a much smaller Dingo. Since you have power steering, you might consider Hydroboost for brake assistance, one of my top ten mods. Will this be a driver, or racer, or show car?

Great work. Thanks for sharing. Did that stock power steering pulley work. I had to go to a much smaller Dingo. Since you have power steering, you might consider Hydroboost for brake assistance, one of my top ten mods. Will this be a driver, or racer, or show car?

Bee Jay

had to go with a turn one pulley that was a bit smaller and seems to clear everything fine and I plan on doing autocross and a little road racing with the car

Looking great for sure .

I know your feeling great now , that's a huge milestone in a build , especially with so much body work .

orange will look great on those big flares when you get some wheels under it

OldCarBum 04-08-2020 07:20 PM

Beautiful color.
Who makes it and do you have the code?

the color is 418c it’s a factory GM color called Sebring orange but it is a tri coat I used Axalta(formally Dupont) paint that is what I use at my business and is hard to beat the quality

Smooth72 04-08-2020 10:40 PM

Looking great, love the wide fenders

Tarheels1 04-09-2020 06:59 AM

Does the orange have metallic in it? I’m lookin at it on an iPhone.

OldCarBum 04-09-2020 10:56 AM

I Google’d it and it looks like it is the same color as on the 2019 C7 Z06.
There is a 2019 C7 Z06 official Sebring Orange 418c forum thread with many photos.

it’s a gold pearl in the color so it’s not a solid orange

OldCarBum 08-17-2020 12:53 PM

Awesome!

Corvettedave02 08-19-2020 01:13 PM

Looks great! I’m not usually a fan of orange but that color is beautiful. I’m sure even better in person. Is the cowl painted a dark graphite or black? I can’t tell with your one pic.

I’m also curious about your case/ring/pinion setup. Is it the stock 10-bolt mated up to the Detroit speed axles etc?

Very nice car!

7t9l82 08-19-2020 01:35 PM

OMG. That's fabulous! I'm embarrassed, almost.

Jakeinge 08-19-2020 01:58 PM

Thanks it is he orig rear with the detroit speed axle stubs gear fx did the diff for me down in charlotte alos the cowl on the hood is like a charcoal color!

Corvettedave02 08-19-2020 07:59 PM

Very nice! I’ll try not to ever park beside you with my amateur work, lol

Jakeinge 02-20-2021 12:07 PM
