Engine balacing
 
Currently rebuilding my 85 and was wondering when is it necessary to balace the rotating assembly?

If you are simply honing and reringing, no. If you are doing it the right way, yes. :cheers:

Then yes. Boring the block means different weight pistons. Balance everything for long life.

I had mine balanced...I don't regret it.

With new 1st over pistons, re-ground crank, re-sized rods, ARP rod bolts, I thought it wise to be safe, not sorry...and now I am glad I had it all balanced.
It is a small price to pay for peace of mind and a smooth running engine..IMO

If your changing bearings and ring types manufacturer, all this is included in a GOOD balance - so YES you need to have it rebalanced.

Would I even if I wasn't changing the above....YES :yesnod:

If you are going to push it at all, balancing is a must for longivity
