Engine balacing
Currently rebuilding my 85 and was wondering when is it necessary to balace the rotating assembly?

If you are simply honing and reringing, no. If you are doing it the right way, yes.

cranks being cut and blocks being bored 30 over
|
Have it balanced....you won't reget it. :yesnod:

Then yes. Boring the block means different weight pistons. Balance everything for long life.

With new 1st over pistons, re-ground crank, re-sized rods, ARP rod bolts, I thought it wise to be safe, not sorry...and now I am glad I had it all balanced. It is a small price to pay for peace of mind and a smooth running engine..IMO |
