Best ls2 cam??

I have a 06 M6 and i was looking around the internet and didn't find to much info on what cam was the best as for performance. I use to have a 05 mustang gt and had comp stage 2 cams and loved them but im not sure what everyone else is using so i wanted some input on this. I have a vararam intake, bb bullets and thats about it for now, im not looking to change gears or put a blower on (would be nice though:steering:) i want a cam that will work with a ported/polished fast intake and tbody and just basic bolt ons. what does everyone recommend?

Nasty C6 01-24-2010 11:49 PM

Do you plan on fly-cutting the pistons?

silverbullit2006 01-24-2010 11:54 PM

No. I just want a good performaning and sounding cam. Nothing to extreme just the normal things like springs ect..

Nasty C6 01-25-2010 12:02 AM

All the sponsors here have all that info, they know what the max efforts are.bet they chime in tomarrow.

If you're going to but a blower on your LS2, you should be looking for a cam that complements the blower. Do both mods at the same time for optimum performance. :flag:

We use Comp Master lobes, same as everyone else that uses Comp Cams. Nothing weird. Ramp is very soft so we can tune our cams to close to stock driveability. Yes, we do use very big duration and lift is .630 inches

I am being told that some people use different lobs? like XR lobs, and a few other names but my mind is blank right now.

Nightstalker Medic 01-25-2010 08:20 PM

silverbullit2006, mittens the Whiplash cam is just wicked. It sounds wicked too

I love mine:thumbs:

Yes, Comp has several Master Lobes for the Gen III & Gen IV LS engines - XE, XE-R, LSK, and so on. You can mix and match the lobes to build the kind of cam characteristics and behavior you are trying to achieve.

With what I have in my Sig when I was at 7200ft in Colorado Springs. I was 444/404.

I'm looking for a tuner here in Maryland now that I'm back from my deployment. So, I will share the new dyno numbers when they come in.

The cam pulls like a freight train.

I would be interested in who you find as well.

Nightstalker Medic 01-27-2010 10:47 AM

I took my vette to Fox Chevrolet and talked to Bobby their Vette man.

Bobby looked at the car and stated that I should go to Behe Performance.

So, I drove out to BeHe Performance shop. Very nice shop. John the owner was building some vettes and GTOs. John had some Porches, Ferraris in his shop getting tuned in his shop. He is a race car guy. I spent a few hours in his shop. He walked me around showed me all kinds of stuff and really enjoyed talking about cars and tuning. John stated that he does not do cookie cutter tunes. Each tune was from scratch and he does not use someone else’s modified tunes. John uses EFI Live.

mdbrute 01-27-2010 10:53 AM

Thanks for the info, I've heard good things about them. Did he give you a ball park on what it will cost for a custom tune?

Thanks

Nightstalker Medic 01-27-2010 04:17 PM

800 for the tune.

200 for the return to OEM Specs of the ECU.

The car will be with them for two to three days.

Cajundude 01-27-2010 05:08 PM

There are no such thing as cookie cutter tunes on these cars as far as I'm concerned. All should be done from scratch. If a car comes in with a tune, we put it back to stock.

I'm new to the corvette scene. I just picked up a super clean 2007 corvette with 9,000 miles. The thing is 10 years old but almost new at ththe same time.
So here's my question. The car is bone stock and I would love some help deciding which ones to get.
I live in California and will also need a tune as well!
Please any information is greatly appreciated.

I also have a 2007 and lived in California for several years. I installed a Comp Cam XER273H14. I chose this cam because it would pass CA smog and didn't need a torque converter change. This cam is generally pared with a FAST intake and together they produce a lot of power. If you have any questions or need a tuner referral send me a PM.
