Want to install shift buttons on the center console and looking for access to the paddle shift wiring after it exits the steering column to install a cable line in parallel with the shift wires. On the C5 there was an interconnect board on the steering column. Pulled the knee bolster on the C6 and all I find are wiring harnesses. One big one for probably the dash a small one next to it.

Help?

Perhaps interesting for some of You, at the moment I develop adapters to use nearly every paddle You want.
The Adapters are made in ABS and can easily be installed and replace the original ones.
They also will not be so expensive, here in Germany You can only find parts over 200€ (ca. 230$).
My C6 is in the moment in the garage for repair, I think my construction/tests would be ready at the end of march.
What Do You think?

Thanks for the Awesome DIY DBratten. I love this mod. I struggled getting the wires out of the connectors, but I managed to get them out.

Dan,

Thanks for this awesome write up. I started trying to figure out how to use the paddle shifters and I was hating the stock ergo setup. The Thumb buttons were just hard to get to when gripping the wheel. This makes it easy to up shift while driving. JUST AWESOME!!

Ok, I so want to do this mod, BUT, I have a 2006 with Nav and if I disconnect the battery, I will lose my clock! So, just how dangerous is it to remove the airbag without disconnecting the battery? I am aware there is some risk, but just how critical is it? Has anyone done it?
I thought about doing the 9-volt battery to the OBDII port trick to keep the clock alive, but I expect that would be the same as leaving the battery connected, or would it? Anyone know?
TIA for any input!

There is now a fix for the Nav clock. Look at the sticky at the top of the C6 Corvrtte General Discussion forum.
https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...6-nav-fix.html

I've done the F1 paddle mod years ago and am about to remove the airbag again so I can change out the paddles for the one shown above your post.
It is a good idea to disconnect the battery, or simply pull the 10A fuse to the Airbag systems if you prefer.
With the Nav clock fix in place (I downloaded the file to the Nav) there is no more need to worry about losing the clock.

Removing the airbag, and doing the F1 mod is a piece of cake for sure. If you actually remove the connectos from the air bag module to remove the air bag completely from the wheel to give you more room, be careful not to damage the yellow locking clips. These must also be re-installed or it will nor complete the airbag circuit, and you will have an airbag alarm, until these locking clips are in place.

You will have to give an update on the new paddles. Where did you get them? Is the post above making them?

Sorry to dig up an old post...

Can someone clarify if I am looking at what I think I am seeing?

This mod makes the left paddle for upshift and the right for downshift? Should it not be the other way around as I believe is the standard?

If this is truly what I am seeing, can the wire swap be done on the opposite paddle to accomplish this?

SixAddict 03-21-2021 06:03 PM

You want to swap the wires on the right paddle So it shifts up when you pull back on it.

I used the link below, forum member did a great write up and how to.
