1981 heater core

What all do I need to remove inside my 81 to get to the heater core. I have a leaker.

I'm not afraid of the work, I just hesitate when the dash is involved. I have a 81 in really solid shape. Can I get by with just taking the glove box door and liner out?

Anybody know??

WOW....when I did mine I had the entire dash out as part of my restoration....but from what I remember...there would not be enough room to remove the cover through the glove box.

I think you have to have the dash out.

Good luck on this one.

The entire dash does not have to be removed, just loosened on the passenger's side.

But, there is quite a bit to remove to get to that point.

Following is a step-by-step that I used a few years back.

I can't take credit for the instructions and I can't remember where I downloaded them. My apologies to the original author!

I just did mine and I went in from the front engine compartment, no need to remove dash or anything. I will load up some photos if you need to see how its done. PS : I do not have air ,if you do it may be a problem , not sure where air unit is on yours if you have it.

dariopop, I DO have air, so there is quite a large exchanger box in the engine compartment. I'll seek advice from above and give it a shot. Thanks to Brian P for his instructions, this will help!

The instructions would not load for some reason. I cut a pasted as well with no luck. Anything else?

Thanks Brian.

That's a fun job. I have some pictures when I did my 81...if you want them I can email them to you. I also had an instruction sheet but I don't know where that is at the moment.

Here's a deal I wrote several years ago. It's certainly not doctorate quality, but it may help.

Thanks Brian.

The spaces in the title must have been causing trouble. Here is a revised link with no spaces in the title:

Hope this works better!
