VHT Night Shades. You can get it at the local Autozone. Just like everything paint related, the more time you spend prepping, the better the result.

I saw your thread, I know I don't have a Z but a vert with a smoothline top closely resembles a Z

Hope this helps some.

Basically you have to find a willing paint and it's basically clear coat with a couple drops of black in it.

Some people do skimp it and buy the cheesy stick on acrylic blackouts

Anyone have pics of VHT on the back-up / plate lights? Ugliest part of the rear end imo. I bought the stick-ons but they look horrible and took them off.

My Z with one coat of Niteshades on the taillights and 2 coats on the side marker lights. The tail lights are very visible in the daytime and the brake lights are REALLY visible in the daytime or nighttime. 2 coats made the side marker light very dark but it is still visible at night.

Mine are painted with automotive clear that has some black added to it. Very durable, and I wax the lights when I do the car.

I would like to do this also as I have the plexiglass kit now. I noticed no one painted the reverse lights. Why not? How do you add black to clear paint?

C1 Eire 10-05-2011 03:10 PM

This is what I did. I have Euro lights and I got my paint shop to tint them, I wanted to get rid of the fugly backup lights so I use the inside pair of the tail lights as backup lights and the flashers are on the outside pair. I then got my number plate guy to make up a plate to cover the area where the backup lights/no. plate holder are incorporating a correct size Euro plate.

You can do them no problem, same as the other lights too, but when you are backing up, you cant see anythingggg

Mine are painted. The above picture doesn't show them very well, though.

Just the way it sounds. Paint shop adds black paint, mixes it, sprays it.
