ECM replacement
I believe i tracked down my dropping voltage to the ECM (one of the feeds into the alternator from ECM dropping below 5 volts at idle) and bought a new ECM from Gene Culley. My question is, can i simply have my tuner flash this ECM with my current tune? Or do I need to have a Chevy dealer do an intial flash specific to my VIN etc. Any gotchas I have to watch out for? Any one else replace their ECM and running an aftermarket tune?

did Gene asked for your VIN?? I bought an ECM a while back and the seller asked me for the vin number. he flashed it with that vin number and all I did is install it and tune it. your tuner wont be able to do that ( I doubt it)

I supplied my VIN when ordering online, but Gene did say I would need to take it to a dealer for a flash. I wasn't sure if that was required or if I could simply flash it the first time with just HP Tuners. Sounds like I might need to take it to Chevy for an initial flash.

Yea looks like you will need to do that first. When I bought mine they already flashed it for my vin thats why I didnt need to do anything. good luck
