Does anyone know why were spinners outlawed by the Federal Gov't in 1967 ?

safety. you can thank Ralf Nader for this. along with padded dashes, collapsible steering columns, along with everything rounded off in the interior

I guess. but I haven't ever had a dangerous encounter with the spinners on my 1961. perhaps I am missing something - but I just don't see how these can be considered dangerous :eek:

Nader didn't like them, and had "winged projections" banned in the initial release of the first group of MVSS (Motor Vehicle Safety Standards). :ack:
