WTB: Dipstick for 68 427, Thanks!

Hi, looking for a good used dipstick and tube for 68 427 engine. Stick will read from bottom to top: ADD/ /FULL ENGINE OIL E (The "E" is on its side). Typically it will have a pink or salmon color plastic tip. The handle will be round and slightly flattened. Let me know if one is floating around out there. Thanks! :woohoo:

I have one that I received from an NCRS member who had a 68 BB (400 Tri?).

It reads as you posted, but has an off white tip. Never could really ID what it was from.

White is the correct color tip for all 68 big block dip sticks. It was also used on most 69s.

There seems to be some question about this.

It might be true. But, I have seen pink/salmon in a couple cars. Sometimes the tip is missing. Thanks

I just checked my 68 L68, it's stamped as described with the off-white, almost tannish colored tip. What color is the handle supposed to be? Mine is silver, but it looks to be spray painted and there was some overspray on the white tip that scraped off with a razor blade.

Hi,

For the most part, the consensus is the tube was natural color and he handle was natural color. Both seemed to quickly change to rust color. :lurk:

Thanks, that's good to know. Looks like my car has the right dipstick with a silver paint job.

The pink/salmon colored tip was used on 66 and 67 BBs. You may find it on some 68s because the older NCRS Judging Guides used to incorrectly say it was used on 68s as well. They no longer do.

Hi again, ,

John,
Do you have a list of other 68 parts you are going to sell. Any luck on the drivers side dash pad? I am interested in the antana if it is in oK shape. Looking forward to seeing the dipstick.
Thanks, Terry

Rest assure, Terry.

Anything purchased from AJ is going to be exactly as described if not better. I purchased parts from John and never had any regrets. AJ is a top shelf seller and all around good guy.

I am sure it will….

I talked with him a little bit today. I am worse than a little kid around Christmas time. :ack:

Terry,
Contact this guy for early C3 parts, indicate Joe Hudec pointed you his way.
