If given the option, would you pick a classic Corvette or a new C7? Not that there's any real loser here.

I had the option and went with the C7. I guess anyone that is purchasing a new car has the option of selecting an older model or the new C7. As you are on the C7 forum, my guess is that they will all have chosen a C7. Go over to the C2 threads and you may get a different answer:)

The Hall family has been in Chevy sales for decades. It's all just a marketing feel good story. Father or son could drive or buy any car they want. I'd be highly surprised if the father didn't have a C6 in his garage already.

Some PR person just decided it would get a news crew out. It worked..but it's really not news. Family members in car dealerships trade cars like most of us change tooth brushes.

Having a C3 and a C7 I can say it would be a tuff call. Love both cars but they are worlds apart. If comfort and convenience with long trips in the mix, the C7 is the way to go. More space for items like luggage. My old back just can't handle long hauls in the C3, and that's with new foam in the seats. The C3 is a blast to cruise around in locally. But there's always something to be done. Classic cars need constant TLC to remain roadworthy.

You will loose more money in depreciation with the new C7. As far as ride goes you can put later model body bushings on the C3 to improve the ride. At the kind of mileage that old C3 has it may be time for a restoration. If I had the C3 I would restore it by taking the whole car apart and put the car back together using adhesive on all the screws to work out all the squeaks and rattles they are known for. It's a hard call to make as to which to choose. Anybody can go buy a new car, but the C7 has better technology as time has marched on. With the C3 gives you that classic look that you don't see as often anymore. It also will take more time and dedication to keep the C3 going which in itself can be more rewarding.

My next door neighbor bought a 67 vert last fall. For about the same money I bought a new 2015 in the Spring.

I've driven his, and he's driven mine. While I love looking at the C2, I would choose the C7 to drive without question. I wish I could have both, but since I can't the C7 is better in pretty much every way. The C2 is remarkably primitive.

I like both cars a lot. 67 is appreciating while the 16 is depreciating. If I had to pick one to keep, I'd probably pick the c7. I

I have both vintage and modern Corvettes. It is difficult to choose because they are really totally different cars. You can't drive anywhere in a C2 or C3 without people waving to you or giving you a thumbs up. When it comes to taking a trip the older cars are not that much fun. However there is something special about a vintage Corvette that you just can't get from the new ones. Own both if you can.

A neighbor bought a mid-year home when I was about 6. Thought it looked like a spaceship. It started my life long affair with Corvettes. However, once I drove my mag ride Z51 C7 vert, there was absolutely no going back. Thanks Tadge and team.

In 2012, I was returning to Corvette ownership after a dozen years without a Vette. I had the opportunity to pick up a restored, identical twin to my first Vette, a 1969 Cortez silver vert with a black vinyl hardtop, 350/350, 4sp, posi. Loved that car when I was in my 20s, single, at the beach, with beach bunnies, that was a great life. But in 2012, I bought a used C5. I passed on the C3 because I'm not in my 20s, I'm not single, I'm not at the beach and the beach bunny is now my wife. Now I've moved to a C7. I want all the creature comforts that newer designs offer not to mention the C5 could out anything the C3 could do, not to mention what the C7 could do. I enjoy looking at the old vettes, but I'll let someone else buy and maintain them.

:(:(That one I wouldn't have guessed these cars are like night & day diffs. I love my 65 conv and also the c7 conv but with that said this c7 is the best riding & driving corvette I have ever had.

I have had every corvette other than a c3 in this time in my live got into the 930 T/turbo cars. But always coming back to the vettes. Love my c2 & c5 & love the c7 now c5 is my daily driver & will the warm weather coming before to long & driving the c2 a lot..

By the way love the 67 color and all cant beat red in these cars.

I have owned a 2000 hardtop, a 2003 ZO6, and a 2006 ZO6. They were all great cars, but I had always wanted a 67 big block. 2 years ago, I bought the car of my dreams. All original drivetrain, 98.1 Bloomington gold,97.4 NCRS regional topflight, completely restored. I have something that very few have, and my car contines to appreciate!

:iagree: owned a 69, and now drive a 15.

I had the money. ... owned a L88 1976 Stingray that I drove as a DD. I also drove a 67 and liked my 76 better as it fit better. But as a Big guy over 45 no way I can be comfortable in either one for long. Now if you're a small guy i am sure it won't make much difference. But if you're older and not small you really need to take a c7 out for a spin. :flag:

I have the 15z and my dad has the 65. I would rather take the 65 to the local coffee and cars and my 15z for any trip longer than 30min. I also would rather take the 15 for a spirited drive. Two different animals, both great.

Tough call, but I'd probably trade my C7 in for a nice fawn '62.

I can appreciate the antiques, but I prefer the creature comforts, performance, and the lack of having to maintain the new.
