Always, always carry a fire extinguisher!

It really makes me feel sick!! Looks like somebody tried with the fire extinguisher.....powder on windshield, fender and ground. You can't expect much from a small fire extinguisher that fits between your seats. Gasoline is so very flammable.
Horrible way to lose it.

Thinking wiring. You see him in the video removing something from behind the seat - disconnecting battery?

This reminded me I haven't picked up an extinguisher for the 75 yet...

I wonder? I saw a thread on an Audi forum about an LS swap, car also caught fire, fuel injector rail sprung a leak.

Anyone know what caused this fire? I have a red '70 vert. Had a very leaky Qjet and couldn't believe how bad it was and thought I was very extremely lucky that it didn't catch fire.

I have a 5# extinguisher in my car at all times. And a 10# next to the car in the garage.

Fuel fires are terrible, and so are wire fires. Each are devastating in their own way. With the same unfortunate result.

So few 1970's to start with, I sure do hate to see another one go down the tubes.

I've said it before: I'm starting to feel more like a guardian and curator of my 1970 more than it being 'just a car'. It was a unique year for being "the last year" of the unrealistic power ratings. The height of stupidity, as it were. The year before the government started deciding what was better for everyone. And getting more rare as each year passes.

That video was in bad taste. I wouldn't appreciate it if it was my car.

That was hard to watch. I thought the music in the vid was in poor taste.

Sorry for the Loss. What a Horrific event watching your car burn. and nothing to do about it. at that level. the most important part. you live another day!

Since buying my C6 last year I have been weighing whether to get a fire extinguisher and have read the various postings here on the Corvette Forum about it. The consensus seems to be that halon may or may not work but that dry powder will make an expensive mess so either way does not look so good. Watching this video there is first an attempt to put out the fire with a 2.5 lb extinguisher, then a second by the emergency responder with a similar unit before the guys with the big fire truck really blast it. I do not think I would like to open the hood during a fire, or stand around the burning car like the people in the video do but rather clear the area and let the insurance company worry about it.

That was a beautiful C3 and a sad end to it.

"Agreed value" insurance is your best friend in cases like this. I feel very sorry for the owner having to watch his baby being destroyed. I agree with others that the music was in very poor taste.

I couldn't even watch the whole thing. It was infuriating to hear the very, very poor taste music. Sad for the owner. A beautiful car. :flaghalfmast::salute:

Sorry to see that, I feel your pain. What causes a fire like that? I am new to c3 world. Can that happen to any c3 or was this one not put back together correctly? I'm asking because quite a few mention having a fire extinguisher and I am wondering if this is a fluke or a more common problem

couldn't agree more, hopefully he had it and will at least recoup the monetary value....at least that softens the pain.:salute:
