No--was referring to the fact that the VIN tag has been (re)attached using pop rivets. And the rivets holding the trim tag don't appear typical either, especially the one on the right.

Nice car, but yeah, those tags have definitely been removed and replaced.

From the crashed car to the stolen car???

The right door has AO Smith flat head rivets. AO Smith didn't start building bodies until '64, so...

I'm aware of the difference in St Louis and AO Smith doors, and that all 63 bodies were built in St Louis, but I did not see any pics of the front upper inside door area in the listing? I scanned it twice. Can you post a pic?

Never mind, I see it now:

Cars run in "waves" on BaT, and in 2017 they have featured at least 3 split windows. The first had both a replacement trim tag and a reproduction VIN tag (with a VIN # belonging to a convertible); the second had extensive frame repairs not disclosed in the description and not acknowledged by the seller until the peanut gallery forced the issue; and this one has the obvious issues we're pointing out in this thread.

Since they take a curated approach to the cars they feature (rather than the catch-all of eBay), they could certainly stand to improve their knowledge of midyear Corvettes and select better examples for presentation.

Yes really on point

NMT1957 04-15-2017 06:32 AM

So in general what is the car worth with the issues that have been pointed out?

Auto5 04-15-2017 11:06 AM

Built the same day as mine, also in British Columbia.

This forum has the most well informed and, IMO, kick-a$$ peanut gallery out there. I have learned countless minute and arcane details, as have others, and hundreds of thousands of dollars have been saved from being squandered on shabby or cobbled-together merchandise. More power to the peanut gallery on the Corvette Forum!

1963 door rivets

During an NCRS judging event today I learned that St. Louis used a flat head rivet in the doors for 1963. In 64 they began the pop rivet style. In 64 AO Smith began using the flat head rivet for the balance of C2 production.
Learn something every day 😎:)
