Yep, that is a '55 block. It's unlikely to have been in a Corvette but post the assembly code on the engine pad and you'll find out for sure.

My source info says it's a '55 265ci (no oil filter) car application. :cheers: Dennis

What exactly is stamped on the pad that is marked by the red oval (that the arrow points to) in this picture.
It will be something like: 0012345 F55F The first 7 digits are the engine sequence number F = Flint engine plant (T = Tonowanda engine plant) 55 = year 1955 F = (one of two characters that defines the application and equipment for this engine. The only Corvette application codes for 1955 are FG (powerglide) and GR (3 speed manual). |
