Lake Minatare Lighthouse near Scottsbluff in Western Nebraska is one of only seven inland Lighthouses in the United States.

When was that built? 1930s? I remember it from when I was a kindergartener in Minatare in the 1950s.

Between 1937 and 1939 by the Veterans Conservation Corp. during the height of the Great Depression.

Great photo. I didn't realize that there were any lighthouses inland other than those on the Great Lakes. Several years ago, we went on a road trip to the Great Lakes and hit as many of the old light houses as we could locate.

Seems no two are alike.

If I recall correctly, each one had a unique color/pattern and a unique flash as an aid to ships finding their location before GPS and the like.

I love Lighthouses. This one is between Big Sur and San Francisco on Hiway One

Pigeon point lighthouse.
